La estocada
es un café derramado sobre la piel
para besar árboles,
un niño en su estrategia de niño
que siembra mariposas,
un verso,
una mujer
escribiendo poemas para otros
donde pecadores
beben en la intemperie
sin haber cruzado el Mississippi.
Cruzar,
una isla y otro verso
tras la estocada.

The thrust
is coffee spilled on the skin
to kiss trees,
a child in his child’s strategy
sowing butterflies,
a verse,
a woman
writing poems for others
where sinners
drink out in the open
without having crossed the Mississippi.
To cross,
an island and another verse
after the thrust.
