Edible, perhaps? | My entry for #Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]

Hello, Hive black-and-white photography lovers!

Today, as I left the house, I discovered some mushrooms in full growth—radiant and teeming with life—on logs cut by my neighbors; I couldn't help but stop to photograph them, as I have always been captivated by their beauty and their diversity of shapes and colors.

I cannot say for certain, but I believe this species belongs to the so-called white oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus albidus), a fungus that appears in various colors and exhibits a characteristic fan-like shape at some stage of its development.

I want to find out from someone who knows more about the subject whether they are edible, because I’d really like to try them. A few years ago, when I visited Spain, I tried edible mushrooms and loved them.

Here in Cuba—perhaps due to cultural reasons—I’ve never heard of any edible mushroom varieties, aside from certain hallucinogenic species that I have seen before.

As I understand it, these are not hallucinogenic. For now, I enjoy them for the beauty they convey and the softness of their texture when we gently stroke them.

If anyone knows whether they are actually edible, I’d love to hear how to prepare a recipe so I can give it a try.

¡Hola amantes de la fotografía en blanco y negro de Hive!

Hoy, al salir de casa, descubrí que en algunos troncos, cortados por vecinos, estaban pletóricos, radiantes, unos hongos en pleno crecimiento, y no pude evitar detenerme para fotografiarlos considerando que siempre me han atrapado por su belleza y diversidad de formas y colores.

No puedo asegurarlo con certeza, pero creo que esta especie pertenece a las llamadas Gírgolas blancas (Pleurotus albidus), un hongo que se evidencia en varios colores con su característica semejanza al abanico en algún momento de su evolución.

Quiero averiguar, con alguien que conozca mejor del tema, si resultan comestibles porque se me antoja probarlos. En una ocasión, cuando visité España hace unos años, probé hongos comestibles y me encantaron.

Acá en Cuba, no sé si es por cuestiones culturales, pero nunca he conocido sobre la presencia de hongos que se puedan consumir, a no ser alguna especie con efectos alucinógenos que sí he visto anteriormente.

Tengo entendido que estos no son alucinógenos. Por lo pronto, los disfruto por esa belleza que transmiten y la suavidad de su textura cuando los acariciamos suavemente.

Si alguien conoce si realmente son comestibles, quisiera que me cuenten cómo elaborar alguna receta para aventurarme.
