Hello everyone, sometimes inexperience puts us before circumstances that while they may be simple, can become a headache thanks to their ignorance.
This publication I do from experience, in opportunities when we are asked to perform a formal job, a thesis or important document will be required to list the pages following established parameters .
In many cases, you will be asked to place the first pages in Roman numerals, while the others may be in ordinal numbers. Very good.
The problem begins when we are ready to do it, and we realize that our program (In my case Microsoft Word), makes a take of all the pages equally does not admit the possibility of generating enumerations of different pages. At least not before a few simple steps. And they will explain them to you next:
Pay attention and in a few minutes you can list the documents in the simplest way and in a short time, say goodbye to that tedious idea of doing indexes in one file and in another the content (Because I've seen it). Okay, what we came for:
You will be directed to open your Word document, and you will position yourself on the page to which you want the different type of enumeration to arrive.
You will locate the panel, and you will go to where it says "page layout", we select jumps, and we can see that it is broken down and it appears jumps by section, we will select where it says "next page"
When clicking, we will notice that a blank page will be added, or we will go to the next page.
Then we will locate in the panel where it says "Insert", and select "footer".
- Having done this Word will allow us to make editions as if they were different documents, this thanks to the division of "sections".

When placing the footer we will see how it appears a superior option that indicates "link to the previous page", we will select it and we will be able to notice how the page indicates having a section 1, and another section 2.
We continue with the enumeration:
- Now, we are going to position you on the first page, which includes section 1 and you will proceed to insert a page numbering.
- Then in the upper left panel we select "page numbering", and page format.
- We will notice that a page format window will open where we can choose the type of format we want if it is Roman, ordinal or any other.
- When choosing the one we need (in this example I use Roman numerals), we will notice how the pages proceed to be enumerated until the end of this first section.
The same procedure is done with the different section and so on each one that we require.
In this way we can see how the section one will have a numbering, and the other 2, different.
Data: sometimes when introducing changes in the last sections the first ones may be affected. Do not worry, select it from back to front and at the end you will get the document you want.
