Every week,Splinterlands hosts an art contest for rewards, which is just another way to support the community and perhaps get lucky and win! I can't believe this art contest has been going for 150 weeks! Like WOW! That's amazing! It's GREAT to take a moment with my creative side and make some art so I really appreciate that they offer this opportunity for us fellow artists! So this week I've decided that I wanted to make another 3D rendering of one of the coolest cards in Splinterlands--the Cave Slugs!
So last week, the Cave Slugs were part of the Splinterlands' Weekly Battle. Which, by the way, is another great opportunity to support Splinterlands! If you've been reading my posts, you know that I just started playing Splinterlands, so I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing in the game, but I thought I'd give it a try and add the Cave Slugs card into my strategy. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CARD, and I got GREAT results in my game! In fact, I loved them so much I just went ahead and made the Cave Slugs in Blender since I'm a 3D artist! I just couldn't help myself they crack me up. I mean have you seen those TEETH?
I don't want anywhere NEAR those things HA HA!
So as you can see, when I first made the slugs, I just did the general slugs with the mushroom as the card shows, but for this art contest, I wanted to add some more embellishments to my creation to make a full art scene! I've added in some trees as well as some nice daisies, and I just imagine these crazy slugs are ready to chomp down on ANYTHING in their sights! HA!
I really have a passion for creating 3D art in Blender, and below I'll post a little montage of how I made them!
So I started out taking a regular CUBE actually and subdividing it which gives the roundness. Then I worked the shape, added the horns, and the TEETH was the BEST part of the whole bit! Ha! It didn't get a picture of adding the dot detailing; however, it's also a cube that's been subdivided and repeated across the cave slug where it looks best.
I'll be entering the Cave Slugs into the Splinterlands' Art Contest, and we'll see how it goes!! There are some GREAT, TALENTED Splinterlands' players for sure, and I highly recommend you go check out their post, and give some love to those artists! I know it would make their day so much brighter if you could tell them you appreciated their work.
