After sending December with my Grandparents, I felt inspired by their beautiful garden. The pictures took some pictures of her vegetable garden to show everyone. . My Gran really works hard in her garden and I am so proud of her. I decided to start a vegetable garden a few weeks ago. My tomatoes have already started producing. We all know there’s nothing better than fresh, organic, free food! (All these pictures are originally mine either taken from my garden or my grandmothers in South Africa.)
Advice on starting your own vegetable Garden :

  • Pick the right location ; most vegetables need a maximum of 6 hours of sunlight a day, ensure the location of your veggie garden has assess to constant sunlight.
  • Plant your vegetables in the right soil ; each vegetable has a certain type of soil that they require to grow in. A good idea to enrich your soil is to create your own compost with organic “waste” that you would usually grow in the rubbish. An example is potato skins and eggshells.
  • Space your crops properly. Pay attention to the spacing guidance on seed packets.
  • Water properly.
  • Plant and harvest at the right time. every vegetable has its own planting dates and the information is often on the seed packets.
