A small city - big impressions / Маленьке місто - великі враження ( En / Ua )
Congratulations, friends!
I hope you are well?
Spring is getting closer and closer. The days are getting longer, which clearly helps my travels. Today I want to talk about the small town of Noale Skorze. It is very close to Spinea, where I live now. It takes only 12 minutes by train. And I arrive at the station. I have a premonition of seeing something new and extremely beautiful.
In order not to wander, I enter the historical center of Noale in Google Maps. And I set off, clearly following the voice from the phone: "Turn right, turn left, follow straight...".
I pay attention to the sound of the bell, which indicates that I am on the right path. Narrow streets, houses with ancient frescoes indicate that the city is quite old. And indeed, Noale Scorcze dates back to the 10th century. The city experienced the greatest development in the Middle Ages, when agriculture developed strongly. During its history, the city has undergone many subordinations, passing from hand to hand: from the municipality of Padua to Ezzelino da Romano, from Scaligeri to Serenissima since 1339.
The first thing I saw on my way was a majestic white building with columns supporting magnificent cross vaults. This building is the Lodge Palace. It was built in 1848. Here is the city council and the art gallery of the artist Egisto Lancerotto.
The city has two entrance gates. One gate in the east and another in the west. The gate has tall towers. As Noale was an important center at the crossroads of Treviso, Padua and Vicenza, the towers are named after these cities. The eastern tower, called the clock tower or Trevigiana. It is decorated with a large clock with a blue dial. On the side of the center in Piazza Castello, the dial has Arabic numerals, and on the other side, at the crossroads of four roads, Roman numerals. Unfortunately, I did not know that you can visit this tower and look at the city from above. One day I will!
After taking a good look at the clock tower, I wander through Castello Square to the bell tower. This tower is slightly lower than the previous one. Its height is 43 meters. Like the clock tower, the Padovanska tower, as it is also called, has a beautiful crenellated decoration. In medieval times, the gate was the entrance to the city and a kind of customs post, and was also part of fortifications or walls.
The city is surrounded by canals fed by the waters of the Marcenego River. This is a natural oasis where various types of waterfowl and animals peacefully coexist. This is a great place where you can come with children and friends for a vacation. The place is very quiet and peaceful. Your peace can be disturbed only by the loud singing of decorative roosters.
The cathedral church of Saints Felice and Fortunato is located on the square. In the church, in the main altar, we can see the image of these saints in a painting by the artist Damiano Mazza, a student of Titian, painted in 1573. On the walls of the presbytery are some paintings of the Venetian school of the 16th and 17th centuries, including Alvise Vivarini's Assumption and Apostles (1500) and a large painting, recently attributed to Carpaccio, of St. John the Baptist between the apostles Peter and Paul. On the altar of the Blessed Sacrament, by Jacopo Sansovino, are statues of Saint Rocco and Saint Sebastian and a precious gilded silver tabernacle in bas-relief. The majestic Ascension of Maria Palma the Younger (1610) is placed on the altar on the right. The baptismal font with a wooden temple, painted in 1593, is interesting. All this must be seen, and the organ must be heard.
The best ending of my walk was going to a restaurant to eat a delicious lunch and drink a cup of aromatic coffee.
The small town made a huge impression on me! I had a wonderful time among medieval architectural objects and rested, enjoying nature. I am very satisfied with my trip to Noale. I want to come here again and again. Because here at every step you can find something new.
Thanks to everyone who visits and looks at my photos.
Good luck to everyone and see you again at Hive!
Hive!
