An amusing walk along the Pocitos Beach awaits us
Day 03: August 11th
We woke up very happy that day. We had breakfast and got ready to know the Pocitos Beach, located on the banks of the Rio de la Plata in the neighborhood of the same name, bordering the Republic of Peru waterside.
It was the first time I visited a beach without the purpose of bathing in its waters, I suppose it was also the case of my companions; evidently winter did not allow it, but it was very pleasant and fun to walk along the shore and appreciate the immensity of the sea. One citizen told us that the city beaches are very active and visited by bathers in summer time. I remember we took lots of pictures from different angles and perspectives.
After the pleasant walk along the beach, we returned to July 18th Av. to make some pending purchases. It was lunch time, so we went to a nice restaurant where we ordered pizzas and some refreshing, extra-large local beers.
After lunch, we visited the Fountain of the Locks, in the corner of the Facal Bar, where lovers make pacts of eternal love.
We continued towards the Plaza de los 33 Orientales, also known as the Firemen square. There were artisanal and gastronomic stands, as well as street artists that enliven the square and make the atmosphere more enjoyable.
Our adventure through the beautiful streets of Montevideo was nearing its end, but we felt satisfied more than nostalgic, I hope one day to return to that fascinating city.
At sunset, we headed to the central bus station to take the transport of the BuqueBus Company that would take us to the city of Colonia to board an express ship back to Buenos Aires.
While I was on the road, I reflected on the wonderfulness of the gift that God and life itself was offering me. Having the opportunity to know new countries, their places and cultures is something simply indescribable, as well as empathizing with their people and history. It somehow leads you to understand their idiosyncrasy and their way of seeing life; it enriches you in such a way that you feel that you become a better person than you were before living those experiences.
