Hello, Hive friends—blessings to you all! It’s Sunday, a beautiful day. Earlier, my husband and I went out to run some errands and to collect on a lottery ticket he won. They wanted to pay him in 20-bolívar notes, but we refused; those bills are being taken out of circulation—you can’t even buy a single piece of candy with them! Where are we headed in this strange country, where the local currency is worthless and everything is priced in dollars? The situation is truly dire. To top it all off, the power hasn’t gone out all day—you might think that’s a good thing, but the catch is that if it doesn’t go out during the day, it’s bound to go out at night. As the folks back in my hometown would say, "Well, that’s that!"

I’m sitting here writing, and right in front of me is a little dog that wandered into my home and practically lives here now. I’m also watching the full moon—it’s beautiful, the kind of moon you’d see in a werewolf movie, or the perfect time to plant in my garden so the flowers bloom brilliantly. My mother used to say that the full moon is the best time for planting because nature’s sap rises more strongly toward the upper parts of the plants—though many farmers prefer different lunar phases for sowing and cultivation. Another belief about the full moon is that it’s the ideal time for a haircut; they say it makes your hair grow back fast, strong, thick, and with a lovely, flowing quality.

Regardless, the full moon is beautiful—it’s truly wonderful to behold. It’s one of the things that helps keep me calm during those long stretches when we’re left without electricity.

Thanks for reading my stories! Remember to be good, and let’s take great care of animals—they are God’s creatures, and it is our duty to protect them.
