Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today I'm looking at another card that honestly looks pretty simple at first, but once you look at what it can actually do, it becomes a little more interesting.
The card I'm talking about today is, New Sskah Drudge.
This is a Common Death unit, and at Level 10, which is the max level, it has 2 abilities that give it a pretty useful role in certain battles.
The stats are:
Mana Cost: 5
Ranged Attack: 3
Health: 7
Speed: 3
Armor: 2
And the two abilities are:
True Strike: Attacks will never miss.
Affliction: 50% chance to apply Afflicted after a successful attack. Afflicted units cannot be healed.
And that second ability, that's the interesting part.
Looking at New Sskah Drudge for the first time, I wouldn't call it a super exciting card.
It's got 3 ranged attack, 7 health, 3 speed and 2 armor.
Nothing here screams "OMG THIS CARD IS BROKEN!"
But that's actually fine.
Not every card needs crazy stats.
Sometimes the ability is what makes a card worth using.
And with New Sskah Drudge, that ability is Affliction.
If you're fighting a team that depends heavily on healing, this little guy can become a serious headache.
Because once Afflicted is applied, that unit cannot be healed.
And that can completely change a battle.
True Strike: Attacks will never miss.
Let's start with the first ability.
True Strike means that New Sskah Drudge's attacks will never miss.
I really like abilities like this because you don't have to worry about wasting attacks.
There are plenty of battles where enemies have high speed or abilities that give them a chance to dodge attacks.
Normally, you might attack, and MISS.
But New Sskah Drudge doesn't have that problem.
If it gets an attack, it lands.
That makes its 3 ranged attack much more reliable.
It's not the highest damage you'll ever see, but at least you're getting consistent damage every round.
Affliction: 50% chance to apply Afflicted after a successful attack. Afflicted units cannot be healed.
Now let's talk about the ability I think makes this card interesting.
Affliction.
After a successful attack, there's a 50% chance to apply Afflicted to the target.
And once a unit is Afflicted, it cannot be healed.
This is HUGE against healing-heavy teams.
Think about a tank sitting in the first position.
It's taking damage every round.
But behind it, the opponent has a healer restoring its health again and again.
You damage the tank, the healer brings it back up.
You damage it again, it gets healed again.
And this cycle can be extremely annoying.
But if New Sskah Drudge manages to apply Affliction?
Suddenly that healing is gone.
Now every point of damage actually matters.
That's where this card can really start making a difference.
I think New Sskah Drudge is one of those cards that becomes much more valuable depending on what your opponent is using.
If your opponent doesn't have any healing, Affliction isn't doing much for you.
But if they have a strong tank with multiple healing abilities?
Now we're talking.
A well-timed Affliction can completely change the fight.
And because New Sskah Drudge has True Strike, you can rely on its attacks actually connecting.
Of course, the Affliction itself is still a 50% chance, so it's not guaranteed every attack.
Sometimes you'll get lucky immediately.
Other times, you'll attack five times and wonder where the Affliction went.
That's just how these abilities work.
Since New Sskah Drudge is a ranged unit, you obviously don't want to throw it into the first position unless the ruleset gives you a reason to.
Keeping it somewhere in the backline makes much more sense.
But you also have to think about Sneak and Opportunity attackers.
It has 7 health and 2 armor, which is okay, but a strong enemy Sneak attacker could still take it down.
And if New Sskah Drudge dies before getting its attacks off?
Well, your anti-healing plan just disappeared.
So protecting it is important.
Personally, I think this card is best when you expect the opponent to rely on healing.
If I see a lineup that looks like:
Big tank + healer + support
I'm definitely going to consider bringing something with Affliction.
Because the longer the battle goes, the more annoying healing becomes.
And New Sskah Drudge gives you a chance to shut that down.
It's not guaranteed, but when it works?
It's REALLY satisfying.
Watching an enemy tank sit there with low health while their healer can't do anything about it is honestly one of the best feelings.
I think New Sskah Drudge is a good example of why you shouldn't judge a card only by its stats.
If I only looked at the numbers, I'd probably just think:
"Okay, 5 mana ranged attacker. Not bad."
But then you look at Affliction.
And suddenly there's a very specific job for this card.
It's an anti-healing ranged attacker that also has True Strike.
That's actually a pretty useful combination.
It's not going to be the best card in every battle.
And honestly, it shouldn't be.
But in the right matchup?
It can be VERY annoying for your opponent.
Especially when they were depending on their healer to keep their frontline alive.
Anyway thats it for today鈥檚 #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
