Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
It's time for another #Splinterlands Card Spotlight, and today I wanted to talk about a card that honestly looks much stronger than I expected after reading all of its abilities.
The card is, Withered Old Sage.
This is a Rare Fire unit, and after looking at the max level version, I can definitely say it has one of the more interesting ability combinations I've seen recently.
It isn't just about dealing damage. This card is built to survive, annoy your opponent, and even come back after being defeated.
Let's take a closer look.
At max level, the stats are:
Mana Cost: 6
Attack: 3 (Magic)
Health: 5
Armor: 3
Speed: 4
Nothing here looks completely broken at first.
The health isn't super high, but having armor together with magic attack already makes the card feel pretty balanced.
What really makes this monster special isn't the raw stats.
It's the abilities.
And wow, they are kinda crazy.
Void: 50% less damage from magic attacks or 0 damage from magic attacks of 1 power.
The first ability is Void.
This reduces incoming magic damage by 50% (or completely blocks magic attacks with only 1 power).
Magic teams can be really annoying in #Splinterlands.
Sometimes they ignore armor and melt your frontline in only a few rounds.
Having Void makes Withered Old Sage much harder to remove with magic attackers.
Against heavy magic lineups, this ability alone already gives the card a lot more value.
Spite: When defeated, 100% chance to counterattack.
The second ability is Spite.
When this monster gets defeated, it immediately performs one final counterattack.
I always like abilities that make the opponent pay for eliminating a monster.
Even after they think they've finished it, Boom.
One more attack before leaving the battlefield.
Sometimes that extra hit could be enough to finish an enemy monster or completely change the battle.
It's one of those abilities that people sometimes forget about until it happens.
Resurgence: Self-resurrects once per battle with 100% health and armor. All magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied. Skips turn. Deals 1 physical damage to all units.
Now this is definitely my favorite ability.
Resurgence.
After being defeated, the card comes back to life once every battle with full health and armor.
Not only that, magic debuffs are removed and magic buffs are restored.
It skips one turn, but then it's ready to fight again.
And as if that wasn't enough, when it revives, it deals 1 physical damage to every unit on the battlefield.
That's honestly a pretty awesome ability.
It can soften the enemy team while giving your own team another chance to fight.
This ability alone makes the card feel much more valuable than its stats suggest.
Personally, I'd probably use Withered Old Sage in matches where I expect longer battles.
The combination of:
Void
Spite
Resurgence
means your opponent has to deal with this card more than once.
Even after defeating it, they're still not completely done.
I also think it works nicely behind a strong frontline tank.
Its magic attack keeps dealing consistent damage while waiting for the right moment to revive if things go wrong.
Overall, I think Withered Old Sage is one of those cards that doesn't immediately grab attention because of its stats.
Instead, its strength comes almost entirely from its abilities.
Void helps it survive.
Spite punishes enemies.
And Resurgence gives it a second chance while damaging every unit on the field.
That's a really fun combination.
I honestly think this card could become very annoying to fight if it's placed in the right team composition.
Sometimes cards don't need huge damage numbers to be valuable.
Sometimes surviving longer and creating chaos is enough.
And I think Withered Old Sage does exactly that.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this card in future battles because I have a feeling it can create some really memorable moments.
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
