Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today I'm looking at a card that immediately caught my attention because of one simple thing, this thing has 7 melee attack at max level.
The card I'm talking about is, Grove Doomblade.
Grove Doomblade is a Rare Fire unit, and at max level 8 it has 4 abilities:
Sneak
Fury
Stun
Ambush
And honestly, when you put all these abilities together, this card can become REALLY dangerous.
It's not exactly the kind of card that you just throw into every lineup, but when the battle is right for it, Grove Doomblade can cause some serious problems.
Let's start with the stats.
At max level, Grove Doomblade has:
9 Mana
7 Melee Attack
3 Armor
8 Health
1 Speed
That last one definitely stands out.
1 speed is VERY slow.
So when I first looked at the card, I was thinking, 7 attack is crazy, but why is this thing moving like it's carrying a whole house on its back?
Still, the massive melee attack makes up for some of that.
And because it has Sneak, it doesn't necessarily need to fight the enemy frontline.
It can go straight after the enemy's backline.
That's where things get interesting.
The first ability is Sneak.
Sneak means Grove Doomblade targets the enemy unit in the last position.
And honestly, this is probably one of the main reasons I'd use this card.
Backline units are usually not as protected as the frontline.
You might have a support unit sitting at the back with low health, and then suddenly this giant sword-wielding elf comes running for it.
With 7 melee attack, Grove Doomblade doesn't exactly need many hits to destroy weaker backline units.
This can make it really dangerous against teams that depend on fragile support cards.
Especially if the opponent has a healer or some other important unit sitting at the back.
Now this is where the card gets even more interesting.
Grove Doomblade has Fury.
Fury means it deals double damage when attacking a target with Taunt.
And this can be absolutely brutal.
Taunt units are designed to pull attacks toward themselves.
Normally, that means they're protecting the rest of the team.
But Grove Doomblade basically looks at that big Taunt tank and says, thanks for standing there.
Because if the target has Taunt, Grove Doomblade can deal double damage.
And with 7 melee attack already, you can imagine how nasty that can get.
This is one of those abilities that can completely change how valuable the card is in a particular matchup.
The third ability is Stun.
Grove Doomblade has a 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round after a successful attack.
A Stunned unit skips its turn.
I really like this ability on a card with such high attack.
Because if Grove Doomblade hits an important enemy and gets the Stun, that enemy basically loses its next turn.
And sometimes one skipped turn is enough to completely change a battle.
Imagine hitting an enemy damage dealer, stunning it, and then your whole team gets another round to work on the opponent.
Or stunning a tank and giving your team more time to destroy the rest of the lineup.
The 50% chance means you obviously can't rely on it every single time.
But when it activates?
It's VERY satisfying.
And then we have Ambush.
This is probably one of the most interesting abilities on the card.
Ambush means Grove Doomblade takes an extra turn before the first round of battle.
So basically, the battle hasn't properly started yet, and this guy is already trying to kill something.
That can give you a huge advantage.
Especially if you can use that early attack to damage or even eliminate an important enemy unit before the normal battle sequence begins.
And combining Ambush with Sneak is really interesting.
You can potentially start putting pressure on the opponent's backline before the first proper round even gets going.
That's something I definitely wouldn't want to face.
This is probably what I like most about Grove Doomblade.
None of these abilities feel completely random.
They actually work together pretty well.
Sneak gives it a backline target.
Ambush lets it attack before the first round.
Fury gives it a massive damage boost against Taunt targets.
And Stun gives it a chance to completely shut down the unit it attacks.
That's a pretty nasty combination.
The card is basically built around aggressive attacks and disrupting the opponent.
It's not a traditional tank.
It's not a support unit.
It's basically there to find something important and hit it REALLY hard.
Personally, I think Grove Doomblade works best when the opponent has an important backline.
If I see a team with a fragile healer, support unit or damage dealer sitting at the back, this card becomes very interesting.
I also think it can be especially useful when Taunt is involved because of Fury.
That's probably one of the situations where the card can go from "strong" to absolutely ridiculous.
But you have to be careful with the speed.
1 speed is a BIG weakness.
If the card doesn't get the opportunity to do its job early, it could potentially get taken down before it causes enough damage.
So I wouldn't just throw it into every battle because it has 7 attack.
You still need the right matchup.
There are quite a few things I like about this card:
7 melee attack is insane.
Sneak lets it target the enemy backline.
Fury can double its damage against Taunt.
Stun can remove an enemy's entire turn.
Ambush gives it an attack before the first round.
8 health gives it some decent survivability.
It can be a huge threat if left alive.
I especially like the combination of Ambush + Sneak.
That just sounds annoying to deal with.
Of course, it's not perfect.
The biggest problem is definitely:
1 Speed.
That's painfully slow.
Against a fast enemy team, Grove Doomblade could struggle.
The 9 mana cost is also something you need to consider.
That's quite a lot of mana, so you need enough room to build the rest of your team around it.
And while 8 health is decent, this isn't exactly a tank.
If the enemy manages to focus it down quickly, all that attack power doesn't matter much.
After looking at Grove Doomblade properly, I think this is a really interesting Fire card.
It's not perfect.
The speed is definitely something that can hurt it.
But the 7 attack combined with Sneak, Fury, Stun and Ambush gives it a very unique role.
This is the type of card where you don't necessarily want it to survive for 10 rounds.
You just want it to get in there, find the right target, and completely ruin the opponent's plan.
If it gets an early Ambush attack, hits a Taunt target with Fury, and then gets a Stun, that's basically a nightmare scenario for the opponent.
And I think that's what makes this card fun.
It's not just about raw stats.
It's about finding the right situation where all those abilities start working together.
Anyway thats it for today’s #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
