Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today Iโm looking at a card that I actually find pretty interesting because it does something that a lot of cards don't really do.
The card I'm talking about is, Dalthin Ironhood.
Dalthin Ironhood is an Epic Fire unit, and at level 6, which is the max level, it comes with some pretty useful stats and 3 abilities.
Here are the stats:
Mana Cost: 7
Ranged Attack: 3
Health: 6
Speed: 4
Armor: 5
And the abilities are:
Weapons Training: Gives attack type and power to adjacent no-attack units.
Immunity: Provides immunity to magic debuffs and Cripple.
Redemption: When defeated, deals 1 physical damage to all enemy units.
And honestly, that first ability is what makes this card really interesting.
So looking at the stats first, Dalthin costs 7 mana, which isn't exactly cheap.
But you do get a pretty decent package for those 7 mana.
The 3 ranged attack is solid.
The 5 armor is probably the stat that caught my attention the most.
And then there is 6 health.
It's not an enormous amount of health, but combined with 5 armor, Dalthin can actually take a decent number of physical hits before going down.
The speed is also okay at 4.
Not super fast, but definitely not painfully slow either.
So overall, I think the stats are pretty balanced.
But the abilities are where things get much more interesting.
Weapons Training: Gives attack type and power to adjacent no-attack units.
Let's start with Weapons Training.
This ability gives attack type and power to adjacent units that normally have no attack.
And this can be REALLY interesting when you build your team around it.
You know those support cards that have great abilities but just sit there doing nothing because they don't have an attack?
Well, Dalthin can basically turn those units into attackers.
That's a pretty cool concept.
Instead of having a completely passive support unit sitting next to Dalthin, you can potentially give it some offensive power.
This means your lineup can have both utility and extra damage at the same time.
Of course, you need to position the cards correctly.
Weapons Training depends heavily on adjacency, so placement matters a lot.
You can't just throw Dalthin anywhere and expect the ability to work perfectly.
Immunity: Provides immunity to magic debuffs and Cripple.
The second ability is Immunity.
Dalthin gets immunity to magic debuffs and Cripple.
This is another nice defensive ability.
Magic debuffs can be annoying because they can weaken your units or interfere with their effectiveness.
Cripple is also a problem because it reduces a unit's maximum health.
So having Immunity means Dalthin doesn't have to worry about those effects.
It can just keep doing its job.
And I think this works pretty well with the overall design of the card.
Dalthin isn't just about giving attacks to other units.
It also has some protection against certain enemy abilities.
Redemption: When defeated, deals 1 physical damage to all enemy units.
Now we get to the ability that makes killing Dalthin a little less satisfying for the opponent.
Redemption.
When Dalthin is defeated, it deals 1 physical damage to all enemy units.
So even when Dalthin finally goes down, it gets one last hit in.
And this is one of those abilities that can be surprisingly useful.
Imagine the enemy team has several units that are already low on health.
They finally manage to kill your Dalthin, and then BOOM!
Every enemy takes 1 damage.
That could potentially finish off weakened units.
So your opponent has to think about that too.
Do they kill Dalthin now?
Or do they leave him alive?
Either way, you're getting some value.
This is probably my favorite thing about Dalthin Ironhood.
It can provide value in different ways during different parts of the battle.
At the beginning:
Weapons Training can give extra offensive power to your support units.
During the battle:
Immunity helps Dalthin avoid certain annoying debuffs.
And when it finally gets defeated:
Redemption damages the entire enemy team.
So even though it's only one card, it can potentially contribute from start to finish.
I think Dalthin can be especially interesting in battles where you have enough mana to build a more complicated lineup.
In very low-mana battles, spending 7 mana on one card might be difficult.
But when you have plenty of mana to work with?
That's when you can start building around Weapons Training.
You can have your main tank.
Your damage dealers.
Your support units.
And then Dalthin can basically connect some of those pieces together.
That's what makes him more than just another ranged attacker.
Overall, I think Dalthin Ironhood is a pretty cool Epic Fire card.
The stats are decent.
The abilities are useful.
But most importantly, the card gives you something to actually build a strategy around.
Weapons Training is definitely the star of the show for me.
Turning no-attack units into attackers can add some unexpected damage to your lineup.
Then you have Immunity, which gives Dalthin some protection from magic debuffs and Cripple.
And finally, Redemption means the opponent doesn't get away completely free even after taking him down.
It's basically:
Help the team โ survive โ get revenge when defeated.
Not bad for one dwarf.
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
