It was summer, the sky was clear. The ships have just arrived to shores. It is tough working as a fisherman. It is not the difficulty of the job itself. But, more of being away from family. All three were sitting on the deck facing the ships that just arrived while putting their back against their ship which has sailed two hours ago. They took a breath, discussed the journey. Then, their conversation shifted somewhere else. They were discussing family, raising kids and holding the family together to make a successful life. They were talking from their own experience or, from what they have seen others do. It was more of a two person discussion. The third was a listener. They were thinking that he is just taking some ideas, or maybe he is not relating to what they are saying or, just do not have anything to add. But, that was only inside his head. He was looking at them and thinking, do they hear themselves. He asking, what is all of this talk about new way of parenthood and the old way? Do one need to assess what is best for him? Or, at least think it through before saying it? He was having a judgment on what is being said. There are more words that has been said in his head, than both of them.

Era verão, o céu estava limpo. Os barcos acabavam de chegar à costa. O trabalho de pescador é duro. Não pela dificuldade da atividade em si, mas, sobretudo, por ficar longe da família. Os três estavam sentados no convés, de costas para o barco em que haviam navegado duas horas antes e de frente para as embarcações que acabavam de chegar. Respiraram fundo e conversaram sobre a viagem. Depois, o assunto mudou. Passaram a falar sobre família, criação de filhos e como manter a união familiar para construir uma vida bem-sucedida. Falavam com base em suas próprias experiências ou no que viam outros fazerem. Era, na verdade, uma conversa entre dois deles; o terceiro apenas ouvia. Os outros imaginavam que ele estava apenas absorvendo ideias, talvez sem se identificar com o que diziam ou simplesmente sem nada a acrescentar. Mas isso eram apenas pensamentos dele. Ele os observava e se perguntava se eles mesmos se ouviam. Questionava-se sobre toda aquela discussão a respeito de novas e antigas formas de exercer a paternidade. Será que não é preciso avaliar o que é melhor para si mesmo? Ou, pelo menos, refletir bem antes de falar? Ele julgava o que estava sendo dito. Havia mais palavras sendo ditas em sua mente do que as que saíam da boca dos outros dois.
