The royal sacrifice

In a prosperous and majestic kingdom, ruled by a wise king and loved by his people, a terrible drought ravaged the lands, affecting crops and leading to food shortages. The citizens began to suffer, and the king, with a heavy heart, knew that he must do something to save the people from him.

Desperate and out of options, the king decided to consult the witch of the forest, a mysterious woman known for her power and wisdom. The king mounted his horse and entered the dark and lush forests that surrounded the kingdom, until he reached the humble refuge of the witch.

The witch received him in silence and listened carefully to the king's problem. After a few moments of reflection, he told him: “To save your people, you must give in return what you love most in the world.”

The king was puzzled. What could it be that he loved most in the world? His answer came to his mind immediately: his daughter, Princess Anne. But the king could not even contemplate losing his beloved daughter.
Even so, he could not allow his people to suffer more.

Back at the castle, the king called his daughter and explained the situation. Ana could not help but shed tears, because she deeply loved her father and her people. However, she accepted the sacrifice, vowing to be prepared to fulfill her destiny.

The day came, the king announced to the people the sacrifice they had to make to save them from the drought. The entire kingdom was filled with pain and sadness, but also with admiration for its beloved king and his brave daughter. All the citizens swore to protect and care for the princess in her new life.

The next morning, Ana left in a carriage guarded by the best warriors in the kingdom. They traveled for days until they reached a dark valley surrounded by mountains. In the center of the valley stood an old castle, where the princess would be handed over to a mythical beast known as the Guardian of the Valley.

When Ana saw the Guardian, his heart filled with fear. He was an imposing being, half man and half beast, whose eyes reflected wisdom and sadness. However, he couldn't help but notice the elegance and nobility of him in every move.

The Guardian received her with respect and courtesy, explaining to him that his sacrifice would be the beginning of a new era of abundance and prosperity for his people. Ana resigned herself to her fate, trying to remember her father's words to survive in this new life.

Over time, the princess began to meet the Guardian and understand her noble and generous heart. He realized that he was also a prisoner of his condition, and his heart began to open up to an unthinkable love. But the Guardian never asked for anything more than her friendship and her company.

The years passed, and the kingdom prospered again. The crops grew again, and the drought was in the past. The king, however, he never stopped regretting his choice and deeply missed his beloved daughter.

One day, the Guardian called the princess and told her that the time had come to part with her. The kingdom was safe, and her mission had been accomplished. Ana, heartbroken, hugged him and promised never to forget him.

Back at the castle, the king was received by his people with joy and gratitude. But in his heart, he dreamed of seeing his daughter and the mysterious Guardian of the Valley again. Years later, while watching a beautiful sunset, a figure approached him from the top of the mountains.

It was Ana, radiant and happy, holding the Guardian's hand. The king couldn't believe it. His beloved daughter had returned. Ana explained that the Guardian had been released from the mythical form of him, becoming fully human. His sacrifice and love had broken the curse that tormented him.

The king embraced his daughter and thanked the Guardian for his brave sacrifice and his unconditional love. Together, they made up for lost time and the king saw how his daughter found happiness and true love. And so the king understood that sometimes the greatest sacrifice can lead to the greatest blessings.
