Liberty Mint produced silver rounds in the 1980's that were very well made and proof-like. Even decades later most are still in excellent, like new condition.
I bought this round for a little over spot price (less than a dollar) at a LCS in Orlando,FL a few weeks ago.
Imagine my surprise when I found that APMEX was selling this round for $37.22 on Ebay. It must be a mistake!
Well, the mistake was mine. When comparing both rounds, I found a few differences between the designs. One was the place of the date, other was the torch and the general look of the Statue of Liberty.
I was not happy with this, so I went back to Ebay and searched for this round. There are a few dealers selling the "APMEX" round and another few selling "my" round and all of them call it "Liberty Mint" round.
As I don't believe that Liberty Mint would change the design, one of them is probably a fake.
As I am only interested in the silver content, I will make a few tests to check it and I will tell you the results later.
It is funny to notice that, as far as I know, the article 1, section 10 of the US Constitution is still there. How do you explain to me that America has no circulating silver or gold coins and this section was not revoked?
