I am extra grateful for the milk boxes that I kept for a very long time. One of the legacies that I want to leave for my kid is the concern for the environment. Our lesson about sorting the trash is an important lessons I have taught my kid.
One more thing I am showing her is recycling. Before I throw anything away, I always ask myself if there's no other use for that trash. And my daughter's milk boxes has always been in the recyclable materials in our house. I've made various things out of those. Letter standees for my neice's birthday, party decor material for that particular birthday, shelves, coin banks, amd so much more.
During the lockdown, these milk boxes once again has proven themselves useful. One of the things I made were days of the week plackard which she loves. There has been some more things that I created out of these cardboards.
Since she has a lot of toy cars, why don't I make a parking lot made out of milk boxes taped in top of her toy box. With very limited materials, I just used three things. Scotch tape, the milk box, and marker for the streets and parking slots. Trash throwing averted, kid entertained.
Then I used these boxes to reinforce her Dora the Explorer puzzles. Since she's a three year old with a lot of energy, on a lockdown, I feel like I am locked in the house with her, and not the other way around. So just to manage the wear and tear that these puzzles will go through, I glued them on the milk boxes. Paper puzzles saved and cared for, kid entertained.
Her father also has a contribution. She loves Superwings so much. She also adores Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. I haven't showed her Voltes V yet but I'm sure she's gonna love it too. So when she asked for a toy robot, my husband started working with the milk boxes, scissors and glue gun. No jew toy purchase needed, kid still entertained.
She also loves watching Super Readers. So she wanted to wear a mask. Since she's impatient and can't wait for me to color or at least cut the cardboard properly, I made an impromptu mask made out of rubber band and a small rectangular piece of milk box.
There are lots of other uses for those milk boxes. So before you think bout throwing away your trash, take a look at it one more time before you shoot it in the bin. Think twice. You might still be able to recycle them.
