Although it creeps out occasionally, I try to avoid the negativity and the temptation to comment on current events. Today, I heard a news blip from a person affected by the DOCA, is that right? Any way this "dreamer" college student was portrayed and his news bite was: " Gee I suddenly feel like I am no longer in control of my life." Well welcome to the real world! Let me tell you son, you never were, nor will you ever be in control of your life. I will not make theological arguments here. That aside, as you age you realize no matter how smart you are, no matter how well you prepare, no matter what type of spoon you were born with in your mouth, you are never, ever fully in control of your life. It might be cancer, or the drunk driving down the street, a natural disaster or one of our own making, maybe you'll fall for the wrong girl, or boy, but you are never in control. The best laid plans of mice and men...
Grab your ass and hold on tight. Even better grab the ass of someone you love and hold on even tighter. That's your best bet of making it. Love those around you more than yourself. Be thankful for those that love you more than anything else. And lastly, a warm bed with three dogs and a woman that loves you on a COLD winter night is the best control you will ever experience, and that is fleeting, only a few hours long. Three Dog Night a great band... and now you know the REST of the story!
