Every evening I take a walk around my Brooklyn, NY neighborhood, and June is the most beautiful time. The weather is perfect, and the flowers are blooming. Roses are abundant.

The daylilies are also in bloom. Here they are growing with a Japanese Maple tree in the background. The perfect tree to grow on a small city front yard because they don't grow large.

My favorite flowers of all are the hydrangea. Here they are growing pink and blue on the same bush. Acidity in the soil determines the color.

When you have a small plot of land to grow, it's best not to plant grass. Grass is boring and high maintenance. Look at the gorgeous flowers and ground cover growing on this front yard. Adding mulch finishes the look.

I love our neighborhood's row houses. Planting flowers makes them look spectacular.
