I participated and played in my first Bliz960 Tournament. It was a big learning experience for me. My favorite play times are 10/10 and 10/15. I practiced some 5/8 games because I never played speed chess. In the tournament it took me a moment but I realize it was still chess. I realize now there is time to play an entire game at 3/2 if you don’t panic and rush all your moves like I did. I was completely unaware that you could castle but I saw it done. I am still not sure what the rules are but in general you move your rook over to you King.
I am a little embarrassed to lose so many games although there were many very good chess players. I believe I mention in an earlier post (Steem Cousins) that I like to win all the games, so everyone can keep that in mind next week. Apparently the pieces are randomly ordered on the back row. I don’t know if it is something new but it a new dimension for a young/old chess player. I can still learn just very slowly. As strange as it seem at first it was still a game of chess where you need to develop your pieces to gain position.
Lichess is a great platform and offer a lot. Chess has always been very visual for me. So it will probably take a little time for me to become accustomed with the variable piece arrangement and the colors.
