I love to take pictures (or more correctly... I love to make pictures). Photography has been one of my passions for decades. I may take a break from it from time to time but it always manages to call me back again. It usually starts with something like this bench.
I must have looked at the bench four or five times during the week before I made this image. Something about it kept grabbing my attention. At first I thought it was the fact that obviously I needed to trim back some of the foliage from the surrounding plants and cut the grass... but that wasn't it. Something about the way the different greens intermingled and the contrast of the faded blanks of the bench kept my attention. Now truth betold I am more of a blue man than green. Normally I would say give me oceans or skies and I am a very happy man but today it was the colour of green that captivated me. More than that actually... it called to me ... it demanded I see it.
So this morning as I stood in the kitchen looking out at my backyard I managed to look past the yard work that needed to be tended to and saw the morning light playing amongst the leaves. It was beautiful. I loved the way the early light illuminated the many subtle shades of green. I gave in, as I always do, grabbed my phone and headed to the back deck to make this image. As I look at it now I wish I had used one of my DSLRs, but sometimes the best image is the image you can get. I guess this capture from the camera on my iPhone 7 will have to do until next time when my passion for photography calls again.
