Back when I was travelling through South America early 2019, and not long after I got off from the ‘bus from hell’, (no joke, that’s what it was called) my 28 hour, route from Ascunción Paraguay Bolivia, I arrived in Santa Cruz.
On my first day walking through Santa Cruz, I went into the central square area ’Santa Cruz De La Sierra', a tourist spot with old and modern architecture positioned around a picturesque park. I saw this man sitting on a bench alone, looking straight ahead, and he had his hands in this position, moving them around slowly as if he was moving energy. He seemed to be transfixed on something, but ahead of him I couldn’t see anyone. I quickly took a photo of him, and then later did this painting study of him when I had some time off in my hostel in Medellín in Colombia.
