I want to start by saying I really have no rooting interest at all in this finals. My Sixers went out of the playoffs entirely too early and I can find quality guys on either one of these two remaining teams to be happy for if they win it all.
With that said, I can't help but laugh just a little bit at all the people who kept saying "Suns in 4". I think that the video of the suns fan beating up that dorky looking Nuggets fan really inspired a lot of support for the team and their 8 or 9 game win streak they had going on fed into that narrative quite well.
The Suns have looked good this postseason, but they are now playing in the NBA Finals, they are not going to sweep a team with a two-time MVP in Giannis and one of the best midrange shooters in the game in Middleton (not to mention Jrue Holiday). It was definitely short-sighted to think that a meme would propel the Suns through such tough competition.
I have not fully given up on Phoenix yet, they are clearly capable of winning on the road as they have done it numerous times throughout the playoffs. Additionally, D Book looks like he is gunning for a finals MVP and Chris Paul can't stay quiet for much longer, though he did put up 11 solid assists in game 5.
I think that we will see yet another game get decided in the final minute as the Suns travel to Milwaukee to battle the Bucks to keep the season alive. I'm also not opposed to seeing more basketball, so I may find myself rooting for the Suns in game 6, I did start a community for talking about basketball after all, I wouldn't mind seeing more of it LOL.
Looking forward to the next game, let me know what you think will happen in the comments!
