The Dip
Well, this dip really bit me hard. I lost around 70% of my funding that I had set aside for the new tribe due to the dip and through a few ill-advised swaps. I am looking at starting from basically the bottom once again. Additional costs that have come up on the side in life have made this process a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, though I am now seeking out new investments to make ends meet for the proposed June 1st launch; I am still hopeful.
The Doubt
Hope is a funny concept. There have been a few times in the past where I have written about maintaining confidence in your investments and in the projects you believe in; this is easier said than done sometimes. Life isn't so black and white. There is a lot of doubt, uncertainty, fear and confusion in life. It is difficult to boil these emotions down into a technical analysis of price or a fundamental analysis of a business-model. Sometimes things just look bad.
I have started and restarted financially dozens of times over the last year. I've personally made a ton of mistakes and found myself feeling hopelessness on quite a few occasions. Though my problems are often of my own doing, it does become tough to maintain a forward thinking vision when life is pulling you back regularly.
The Drive
So the question really is: Where is the motivation coming from to get back after it and try again?
I am not quite sure what my passion is in life, but I know the things that get me fired up always revolve around systems of control. Too many times have I witnessed centralized powers making life difficult for the rest of society. Too often those in control are manipulating the world into their own vision of what is right and anyone who is against that is being left behind. The way the world is right now actually pisses me off a lot.
I spent four years in college not really finding a passion. Rather, I have let everything make me angry for the last four years and rather than seeking to make the world a better place, I have more or less just complained about it.
A passion to me is something that when you do it, your inspiration flows with ease and it feels fulfilling to you. I don't know that I have found that, but I do know that I can't keep complaining about the world if I want to see it change.
A Hive tribe about basketball is not going to end facism, market manipulation, abuse of power, corruption, financial crimes or centralization. However, a tribe about basketball is a way to bring people to a platform that seeks to fight all of those things. In fact, this project would bring people that may not know about cryptocurrency or blockchain at all; people who aren't yet aware of these societal mechanisms that are oppressing them behind the scenes.
I am not sure that blogging about basketball will be my passion, but what is motivating me to get up and try again is the chance that a platform like this will help to open up societies eyes just a little bit. I hope that the connections that I make through this process and the lessons I learn about the blockchain will help me to find a world changing idea in the future.
That's what it is all about in my opinion. We're alive for a really short period of time, and we need something to motivate us to make a difference while we're here. The amount of hope I have for Hive has never been in question, it just seems like things are beginning to get more difficult. I know that this is a platform where it is possible to make a change in the world; keeping hope is an important aspect of being able to do that.
- Sorry for the ramblings, I needed to put this out there to motivate myself. Thank you for reading.
