The first paper that I ever wrote in college was ironically about the top 10 beer producers in the world. I did a deep dive on their profits, costs, distribution methods, etc. to get a better idea of how the industry worked.
Today, I came across an article about the average prices of beer around the world and thought it was really really cool, so I wanted to share it with you all!
Here is the article.
It provided this awesome graphic that shows just how differently priced a similar product may be around the world. Whether it is due to the availability of materials needed to make the beers or just because the market isn't there in a specific country, it is interesting to see the intersection of tourism and alcohol consumption when it comes to the costs.
South Africa, Ukraine and Argentina are calling my name with average prices falling well below $2 a beer. With Rome about to run me almost $6 a beer, I may make an impromptu move to becoming a wine drinker for the next week or so haha.
On the flip side of the coin, I'll be drinking water if I ever go to Qatar as they are asking for over $11 a beer. I wonder if they come with a bar of gold on the side as well...
What does a beer cost in your home country? I also assume that these numbers are the costs of the average domestic brew because imports can quickly make a bud light the drink of the wealthy with the ridiculous unit-cost it provides.
