When in Mangalore, grabbing an ice cream at Ideal’s Ice Cream is a mandate! Everyone who moves out of Mangalore and returns here follow it like a ritual and I’m not even kidding.
Ideal’s was founded in 1975. Back then it was an ice cream factory. Gradually they began with ice cream parlours and now they have four ice cream parlours and many stores. They supply their ice creams to almost all general stores and even export to other cities.
My cousins flew down to Mangalore last week and we obviously just had to go get some ice cream from Ideal’s. 😋
We had the Double Decker Sandwich and it was pretty good quantity for the price.

Dilkush is an ice cream platter with three different flavoured ice creams served with nuts and toppings. The ice cream was super creamy and good.

The Chinese food platter was quite average and wouldn’t suggest this one. It contained Manchow Soup, Gobi (Cauliflower) Manchurian, Hakka Noodles, Vegetable Fried Rice and Gravy.

Pav Bhaji is a Maharashtra-origin fast food with bread pav and thick curry. The one at Ideal’s was pretty good.

Tiramisu Ice Cream at Ideal’s has been my go-to since forever. This has been my most frequent order here.

Another of my top favourites has been the Cake Sandwich. This feels no less than heaven. The combination of the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream is just wonderful.
Royal Falooda is my mum’s favourite. I really like it too. The shake is quite thick and flavourful with tons of add ons.

Choco Lava was satisfactory. Cake was a bit dry but otherwise a good one.
Gajar (carrot) Halwa (sweet) with Ice Cream is just beautiful. The vanilla ice cream just fits so well with the taste of the halwa. This is a traditional Indian sweet you’d find at most weddings.

When in Mangalore, you should definitely give this place a visit and enjoy the in-house ice creams.
