This will be my last #gardenjournal post for a good six months! Well, of my own garden anyway. I'm sure I'll show you other gardens around the world if I can! I've been meaning to take photos of my parent's amazing garden for ages. It truly is worthy of an open garden tour but they're a bit shy. As we agreed, we couldn't imagine life without a garden!

First up, please admire this incredible red flowering gum tree. This is the first year it's flowered in the five years it's been planted, and the lorrikeets are particularly adoring it! It's right outside our bedroom window as well, so the first thing we see when we open the blinds in the morning. Aren't we lucky?

Outside the laundry door, I just planted a couple of small grevillea - two yellow and a red. They don't grow too high so they don't block the gorgeous view from the laundry. This was going to be an opening door but we never used it anyway, so we saved money and made it a window. As I make a cuppa in the laundry (it doubles as a butler's pantry) it's a nice spot to look at the garden, tap on the window to scare rabbits and blackbirds, and wait for the kettle to boil.

Speaking of lorikeets, they sure are getting into my plums. I often get one for my mouth, a few half eaten ones for the chooks, some for the compost and some for the worm farm. I just didn't net as well as I should have!

Lots and lots of things are going to seed at the moment - garlic chives (that pop up everywhere in the garden), globe artichokes, parsley, brassicas, and so on.

The capsicum and chilli are starting to fruit. I reckon they do better in pots but this year I really fed the soil, added compost and fertilised weekly with worm poo in water and they've done alright. The cucumber has gone gangbusters - only one took as the slaters and blackbirds got the rest. That's okay, I'll be more dedicated to proper growing food when I get back and 'settle down' again, whatever that looks like.

The tomatoes are doing okay and the zucchini are about to start their second run. The eggplant are just beginning to fruit - I'm gutted I wont be around to harvest. I've gone around and fertilised everything and mulched everything, but the rest will just kinda grow wild while I'm gone. It kinda freaks me out! What will I see when I get back?
