Northern Ireland took in the most Syrians
Per population percentage
But I hadn't seen them
On the street
In the town
Or at the pub
Unlike the Poles
Who I would see collecting at the dole
With baby benefits in hand

I made an appointment to register
At my ol' lifelong doctors GP
But I had to wait two weeks
And I've developed arthritis
I've been waiting that long
And what did I see when I had me appointment?
Syrians everywhere
Sucking up the "free" healthcare
Making them queues extra long

The health staff treated me with contempt
Like I was a nuisance for joining the overcrowded system
But the Syrians get warm smiles and welcomes
Even though some of them clearly look Asian
Tiny ninja woman blocking the hall with her wheel chaired big man
Too Syrian to accept help from anyone as she continues to block the hallway
Attempting to wheel the big man towards me free heathcare

I see them with their straws
Long straws
Sucking up the NHS from beneath me feet
I should have only had waited 1 week and 4 days for an appointment
Now I'm waiting two
And I gotta wait another week until I am registered
And then another two to see a doctor
It wasn't like I asked to send expensive bombs to Syria
In expensive Jets

How much more are these Syrians going to take from me?
How long until they return home to Syria and Asia?
It's unbelievable!
Syrians in me NHS

This poem is a satirical take on Syrian refugees, and our shitty health servies in the UK; the NHS (International Health Service)
