Football... Anybody remember that?? I can't say I'm missing it as much as I used to, or maybe I should. Maybe I've grown out of love with the game, maybe I've grown up, or maybe I've just moved my interest more into photography.
Anyway, regardless, I'm still a Rotherham United fan, I still go to the odd game and still take an interest, just not as much as I used to...
But back onto the topic, For over 100 years, Rotherham United played at an old ramshackled ground called Millmoor, I'll do a feature post on this later.. but after a relationship breakdown with the grounds owner, 'the millers' moved out of Millmoor and played thier games in Sheffield for 4 years.
In 2012, we moved back into our hometown into a purpose built 12000 seater stadium. At the time I was running an unofficial website about the football club and spent a lot of time documenting the build and opening of the new stadium - The New York Stadium - named after the area of Rotherham where the ground now sits.
These little town blues, are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it
In old New York
During construction - nearing the end.
We had a few flights over the ground, here you see the new ground in the foreground with our old ground in the back.
Complete and running.
The first ever kick off, a build up match. Rotherham v Barnsley...
Floodlight testing - first time they were lit up.
Panoramic, First game,
Over the top with Rotherham behind the stadium
