Imagining The Rain | Pencil Drawing (Process) [ENG/ESP]
[ENG] Water is life, life is light and storm, the storm, although aggressive, promotes change and stirs the tides. Rain is life, and if it destroys it is because it warns, but it is neither bad nor good, it is the air in our lungs and the greenness of the mountain.
Hello community! Today I would like to present few drawings that I have made imagining the rain. My post for today is a creativity practice and also a funny challenge.
[ESP] _ Título: Imaginando la lluvia | Dibujo a lápiz (Proceso)
El agua es vida, la vida es luz y tormenta, la tormenta aunque agresiva promueve el cambio y agita las mareas. La lluvia es vida, y si destruye es porque advierte, pero no es mala ni buena, es el aire en nuestros pulmones y el verdor de la montaña.
¡Saludos, comunidad! Hoy quisiera presentarles un par de dibujos que he realizado imaginando la lluvia. Mi post de hoy es un práctica de creatividad y ,también, un reto divertido.
[ENG] For the first drawing I used a black sheet, white crayon and a pencil; I thought that rain is not easy to represent without context elements, if it is drawn in the air, without a background, they might just look like lines, however, if I added a puddle, drops could appear splashing and ripples in the water .
[ESP] Para el primer dibujo utilicé una hoja negra, crayón blanco y un lápiz; pensaba en que la lluvia no es sencilla de representar sin elementos de contexto, si se dibuja en el aire, sin un fondo, quizás parecieran solo lineas, sin embargo, si agregaba un charco, podrían aparecer las gotas salpicando y las ondas en las agua.
[ENG] It was a quick drawing, about six minutes, but I liked the result, I think that is easy understand the idea and some of the waves appeared as a spiral.
Then I scanned the drawing, and using Adobe Photoshop, I inverted the values and the lights, and leveled the frame. I liked how it turned out with the sepia and black tones, it was a fun test exercise.
[ESP] Fue un dibujo rápido, de seis minutos aproximadamente, pero me gustó el resultado, creo que se puede entender la idea y algunas de las ondas aparecieron como una espiral.
Luego escaneé el dibujo, y utilizando Adobe Photoshop, invertí los valores y las luces, y nivelé el encuadre. Me gustó como quedó con los tonos sepia y negro, fue un ejercicio divertido de prueba.
[ENG] For the second drawing I used a white sheet, a pencil and an eraser. Now that I had practiced adding some elements of context, I decided to include palm trees in the scene. It is a fairly improvised free composition.
[ESP] Para el segundo dibujo utilicé una hoja blanca, un lápiz y una goma de borrar. Ahora que ya había practicado lo de agregar algunos elementos de contexto, decidí incluir palmeras en la escena. Es una composición libre bastante improvisada.
[ENG] An advantage of palm trees is that their light branches move and flap in the rain and breeze, so this is a way to show the wind in the drawing.
To make the drops of water, the technique I used was, basically, hitting the sheet with the pencil at an incline, I tried to do it with rhythm, almost as if I had a very fast metronome.
[ESP] Una ventaja de las palmeras es que sus ramas livianas se mueven y se agitan con la lluvia y la brisa, así que es una manera de mostrar el viento en el dibujo.
Para hacer las gotas de agua la técnica que usé fue, básicamente, golpear con inclinación la hoja con el lápiz, intentaba hacerlo con ritmo, casi como si tuviera un metrónomo muy rápido.
[ENG] I felt that the storm scene was lacking elements and drama, so I started to draw some dark clouds in the background, I made spots that I then blurred with my fingers and with my hand, I ended up with very dirty hands, but it worked.
To add more dynamism to the painting, I used the eraser, marking the silhouettes of rays, which on the sheet filled with graphite, appeared luminous. The trick was to cut the eraser, so that it had sharp sides and could make thin lines.
[ESP] Sentía que le faltaban elementos y drama a la escena de tormenta, así que comencé a dibujar unas nubes oscuras de fondo, trazaba manchas que luego difuminaba con los dedos y con la mano, terminé con las manos bien sucias, pero funcionó.
Para agregar más dinamismo al cuadro, utilicé el borrador, marcando las siluetas de rayos, que en la hoja llena de grafito, aparecieron luminosos. El truco fue cortar el borrador, para que tuviera lados afilados y poder hacer lineas delgadas.
[ENG] The last touch was to highlight the lines that had been erased from the palm trees and place one more layer of drops that had been cleared up.
I'm happy with the final result, for a quick and practical drawing I think it turned out very well. I also scanned this drawing, increased the contrast and adjusted the lighting (The first image in this post).
[ESP] El último toque fue remarcar la lineas que se habían borrado de las palmeras y colocar una capa más de gotas que se habían aclarado.
Quedé contento con el resultado final, para ser un dibujo rápido y de práctica creo que salió muy bien. Este dibujo también lo escaneé, le subí el contraste y ajusté la iluminación (La primera imagen de este post).
