Reading through people鈥檚 posts gives me a lot of flashbacks to when we were kids 馃槀. We were told a lot of things and we believed in them.
As a kid in African society, you are told a lot of lies which you believe to be true to prevent you from doing certain things. Though doing them wasn鈥檛 bad, I guess it wasn鈥檛 good to do those things at that age.

We were told a lot of things in our childhood age. Sometimes I sit down and laugh whenever I remember about them or whenever I pass by and hear kids talking about the same thing we were told 馃槀.
One of the stories we were told when we were kids was about eating of clay (ferinkasa). The reason behind this story was that if you eat too much clay (ferinkasa), it will go into your stomach and build a big pot inside your stomach. So we shouldn鈥檛 eat clay.
Another story that I still find funny 馃槅 is when you are fighting with a friend and he bites you, you make sure to put dirty water (gutter water) around that spot. In doing so, the tooth of the person who bit you will get rotten. To date, they still tell kids this story 馃槀.
I remember one painful lie my brother use to tell me whenever he sends me to go buy him something. Damn, I believe I fell for it 馃槀. When he sends me to go get him something from the store and I am going slowly he will then spit saliva on the ground and tell me to make sure to come back before the saliva dries up if not I am going to die if I don鈥檛 come early. Whenever he says that I will run as fast I can just to go and come before it the saliva dries up. The funny part was that I never really did beat the saliva because before I get to him the saliva will already be dried up 馃槀
Just yesterday, I left home to go see a friend and I decided to stop by a provision store to get some snacks, the owner of the store child fell off a chair and was on the ground while crying, his elder sister who was also a child told her brother that if he doesn鈥檛 get up and lets someone pick him up his strength will remain on the ground and will have no strength in him again after hearing that, the small boy quickly got up 馃槀. I stood there and smiled 馃槀
I can鈥檛 believe we were told all this and we believed in them 馃槀. Childhood was indeed really a fun age. Zero worries and 100% joy. You believe in whatever you are told even if it's the wrong thing still we believed in them.
