Good evening ladies,
The contest for this week is very amazing, making me to think back to time, how everything was or used to be. In Africa, we naturally believe in tales, lullaby, myths and folklores. In the villages, adults normally make out time to tell stories of all kinds of stuffs to growing kids and we then at the same time will consciously believe and always remember those tales till adulthood. Most people even believed those stories till they became very aged or passed away. Such stories are mostly told at nights under a bright shining moonlight in an open compound, creating so much memories in the minds of all the growing children.馃槀, it's always lovely night time free gatherings.
In my own subconscious mind, growing up, I believed so many of them until my adulthood when I by myself discovered that those were make belif stories that were never ever true, I then dropped believing all of them entirely.
I was meant to believe that those sharp tiny lights that do blink in dark areas in the villages were the sharp eye sights of dead people moving about in the villages looking for whoever to grab and go to the land of the dead
This made me very afraid of darkness, whenever I see that blinking light, I will run very fast and very far away to hide myself, believing that I was running out from the reach and sight of the dead. I was very conscious of every dark place. So that i will never be caught by them.. haha 馃槀.

Becoming an adult much later, I discovered it was a blink of light from a particular night insect that usually flap it's wings while flying and the wings in turn blinks the very light we see in the dark. But the elderly told us those were the searching eyes of dead people looking for whom to grap and go to the land of the dead which in turn means that whoever they grabbed will die instantly... Very fearful myth...haha.
The question in my mind now that I have known the truth is..., what did our elderly people wanted us to understand or to achieve by telling us such folklores that were not the real facts...?
**Another untrue story is about the Owl Birds.... Till tomorrow we were told and as well believed that owl birds are agents of witchcraft operations, better still, that Owls are witches themselves. Whenever we hear the sound of Owl birds at night, we will be ready to stone it out from any nearby tree near our houses, where it has patched.
You can see how curved it's eyes looks, we believe it's the demonic evil eyes of witches looking at you. Whenever Owls are shouting, we are not comfortable until we chase them out from our environment**

Later in life as an adult, I discovered and know that Owls are just ordinary birds God created as he chose to make them look, and nothing more, they are not witches or witchcraft agents as we were made to believe.
This is my response to this contest, LOH # 300.
