The Bucegi Massif, with an area of about 300 km², is located at the eastern extremity of the Southern Carpathians, extending between the Prahova Valley to the east and the Bran's passage and the Ialomita Valley to the west; it suddenly collapses northwards to the Barsa depression and to the south, until contact with the Curb Subcarpaths
