Victims
La obra representa la fusión amorosa de una pareja que sin saberlo, son las nuevas VÍCTIMAS del VIH-SIDA. Una terrible enfermedad que no tiene rostro y no distingue entre sexo, etnia, religión, raza o edad.
The work represents the loving fusion of a couple who, without knowing it, are the new VICTIMS of HIV-AIDS. A terrible disease that has no face and makes no distinction between sex, ethnicity, religion, race or age.

La obra iba a realizarse en lienzo pero al final, mi profesor decidió que pintaría sobre una cartulina porque como iba ser mi primera obra con óleo, no quería que desperdiciara el lienzo 😅Para no complicarme no quise hacer una pintura realista (en el intento seguro que iba a hacer tremendo embarre de colores y la pintura realista se convertiría en una obra abstracta) Pinté formas planas donde las áreas se mezclan para lograr contrastes de colores y de texturas entre el fondo y las figuras. Me gustó el proceso creativo hasta que no soporté más el olor a queroseno y agilicé las pinceladas en el fondo para terminar la pintura rápido.
Víctimas, fue mi primera pintura con óleo, lástima que fuera realizada sobre cartulina. Años después, dibujaría otra obra con el mismo título y la misma temática pero realizadas con técnicas diferentes.
The work was going to be done on canvas, but in the end my professor decided I would paint on cardstock because, since it was going to be my first oil painting, he didn’t want me to waste a canvas 😅 To avoid complications, I didn’t want to make a realistic painting (if I tried, I’d surely make a huge mess of colors and the realistic painting would turn into an abstract work). I painted flat forms where the areas blend together to achieve contrasts of color and texture between the background and the figures. I enjoyed the creative process until I couldn’t stand the smell of kerosene anymore, and I sped up the brushstrokes in the background to finish the painting quickly.
Victims was my first oil painting, a shame that it was done on cardstock. Years later, I would draw another work with the same title and the same theme, but made with different techniques.
