Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near (Isaiah 55:6).

FOOD FOR THOUGHT ON THIS VERSE

This verse is an exhortation to seek and call upon the Lord at a time when He is accessible and close.

In its broader context, the book of Isaiah contains prophecies and messages from God to the people of Israel. It emphasizes the importance of seeking a relationship with God, turning away from sin, and following His ways.

In Isaiah 55, the prophet calls the people to seek the Lord and turn to Him, assuring them that God's mercy and forgiveness are available.

The verse encourages individuals to seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near. It implies that there may be times when it is more challenging to connect with God, and therefore, people should take advantage of the present opportunity to seek Him.

Overall, Isaiah 55:6 reminds believers of the importance of pursuing a relationship with God and seeking Him diligently when the opportunity arises.

God is always close to people who really want to find him.
The Bible teaches that God is always close to those who genuinely seek Him with a sincere heart. In James 4:8, it is written, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." This verse affirms that as individuals seek God, He responds and draws near to them.

Throughout the Bible, there are numerous examples of individuals who earnestly sought God and found Him. King David, for instance, expressed his longing for God's presence in Psalm 63:1, saying, "O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." David's sincere desire to find God led to a deep and intimate relationship with Him.

Jesus also taught about the importance of seeking God with a genuine heart.

In Matthew 7:7-8, He said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."

These words emphasize the assurance that God responds to those who earnestly seek Him.

While it is true that God is always present, it is our willingness to seek Him, to draw near to Him, and to cultivate a relationship with Him that allows us to experience His nearness in a profound way. God desires to reveal Himself to those who genuinely seek Him and to have a personal relationship with them.

The real problem is that we lose interest in him, drift away from him, and leave his presence.
This is an important aspect of our relationship with God. As human beings, we can sometimes lose interest in God, become distracted by worldly pursuits, and drift away from Him. This spiritual drifting is a common struggle that many people face.

Scripture acknowledges this tendency and encourages believers to remain steadfast in their faith and relationship with God.

In Hebrews 2:1, it says, "Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it."

This verse serves as a reminder to actively and intentionally focus on our relationship with God, ensuring that we don't unintentionally drift away.

When we neglect our spiritual life or allow worldly distractions to take precedence, we can gradually distance ourselves from God's presence. However, the good news is that God is always ready to welcome us back into a close relationship with Him.

In James 4:8, as mentioned earlier, it says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."

This verse assures us that if we genuinely seek God and take steps to return to Him, He will respond and draw near to us.

Recognizing our tendency to lose interest or drift away from God is an important step. It prompts us to take deliberate actions to maintain and nurture our relationship with Him. This may involve spending time in prayer, studying His Word, participating in a faith community, and seeking His guidance and presence in our daily lives.

It is essential to remember that God's love for us is constant and unwavering, even when we may wander away. He is always ready to welcome us back into His presence when we sincerely seek Him and desire to restore our relationship with Him.

So let's look for him and accept his grace and help, knowing that he is the only one who can really save us.

MY PRAYER TONIGHT

Father, I want you with everything I have. I want to learn about you through your Word, but I also want to know you and be known by you like a loving father knows his child and like a child trusts his loving father completely. Father, be my God and also real to me in ways that can't be explained. Help me feel how close you are and know that you are there. In Jesus' precious name I pray - Amen.
