This is a nice easy post for me to write, so thanks to @ocdb and
@blocktrades for putting together something I wanted to write anyway.
Like many other people I've found this whole lockdown situation quite the opportunity. I had a massive list of goals I wanted to achieved before September this year, which I now realize probably weren't achievable with my work commitments this spring.
However, now with at least two months off work I'm progressing nicely through all of my targets.
In case you don't know my beginning of 2020 plan was to do a van conversion and head out to Portugal later this year, sometime between August and November, and help out with various eco-building going on as described in various posts by @eco-alex and
@orlev - and very possibly buy my own bit of land out there.
Working towards this goal is what I'm doing this lockdown along with a few other things:
Decorating the House
I need to get the house up for rent before I head off to Portugal, this means painting the entire house, top to bottom, getting a new shower fitted, replacing a wonky fence out the front, replacing my kitchen worktop (the carcasses can just get a lick of paint, much cheaper than replacing the whole lot!), replacing the upstairs carpets and selling a lot of my stuff.
Painting's gone nicely so far....
I spent all last weekend painting the living room, finished at 20.00 on Sunday, knackered, and how glad was I Monday morning when my Google calendar pinged reminding me of the work I wasn't at because it's been cancelled!
I've got an electrician now coming next Tuesday, delayed from two weeks ago due to his corona like symptoms, and the next on my list is the fence and the kitchen top, could be quite tough with my lack of skills.
Actually a slight lie, my next task is to pause this Thursday and write out a massive list of tools and products I need to finish off the house and then get them delivered, that could take a while!
Getting the house fully ready for rental, bar the final safety inspections, is my number one goal by mid May.
The van conversion
I decided to spend 拢200 on a video conversion course, which takes you through everything, worth it to save me hours and hours of trawling through YouTube videos with several false starts no doubt.
However, I can't start this util I've actually bought a damn van, which I can't do atm because of lockdown.
There's little point starting on the conversion until I've got the house done up anyway, so this is next in line.
In the meantime I'm going to work my way through the vids and get an order list together.
Assuming I can actually get out, this should be a fun late spring, early summer project (hopefully)
If I can get half way through the videos and everything I need ordered by Mid May I'll be happy with that, I'd like the van bought by the end of May, and the full conversion done by the end of July.
Blogging about CoronaVirus
I've decided it's my duty to write something sociological about Coronavirus, so I've got a list of about 10 topics I want to write on and I'm gradually reading around finding sources to make up the content. This is taking longer than I thought, but it's got to be done.
I really want a series of 10 posts out by early May
Producing some new education teaching resources
One really positive consequence of the A-level exams being cancelled is that I've had to change the schedule according to which I deliver my monthly sociology teaching resources - I had been doing little bits and pieces, but now I've moved to a two year schedule where I'm going to go through years one and two systematically and deliver the resources on a two year rolling update.
I want to get ahead with this and have releases up until September produced by the end of May.
Running and Circuits
This hardly needs mentioning - I love running, I also really enjoy circuit training, so 6 days a week of exercise isn't so much a goal, it's what I do anyway. I actually have no time or strengths goals - just to enjoy this, that's my goal!
Meditating and Yoga
Massive fail here so far, but getting back into these daily is something I'm going to start TODAY! Later on this evening I'm going to tidy this office room of mine, which is still full of paint-flecks on the carpet (to be replaced) from having painted it about 3 weeks ago! Then it's back on this cushion for the daily sit!
I want to be doing a daily 30 minute meditation and Yoga session daily, from tomorrow.
On Hive
Besides posting once a day and keeping up with my feed and comments I want to get ahead with some work for Hive onboarding - I'm going to use @engrave to set up a website where I can store links to useful posts about Hive. Should be a nice little project! I've always enjoyed organising information.
I'm also planning on listening to a few more @mspwaves broadcasts. I've somehow managed to turn up to the last two about 5 minutes from the end. Got my alters on now though, should do better!
I'd like at least 50 links on the website by the end of April, just a starting point!
Champions I
I bought 1 million DEC yesterday, and now have three max level summoners, including Mim0. I think I should be able to make it to Champions I now, although that may involve leasing a legendary summoner or two? I also want to have enough DEC stacked so I can just snap up the next legendary summoner when it's eventually release. Getting more into this game, better late than never?
There's definitely hope - I managed to win against this fully maxed out deck with only one maxed card in my own, that may be down to Mim0 to an extent, but come on... I've got one level 1 card there!
Just generally keeping in touch with people
Finally, I'm making sure I'm keeping up with people - never been busier on Whatsapp!
