We've had a scorching few days here in the UK just gone, apparently 9 people died in the 'heatwave' across three days, in water related incidents.
We aired on the side of safety with the plants and opted to not plant anything out in the super heat, we're just starting today now it's back down to 20s and not in the 30s!
So here's the allotment as is..
Brassicas
These have come on nicely since last post about 10 days ago, planted with PLENTY of compost and all it takes is a good slug of water every day in the heat!
Lettuce
Lettuce seem to like it here, simple but we'll use it!
The Mizuna not doing so well.
Sweet Peas
Just starting out, well mulched for this heat, should do fine!
And the broad beans...
Doing nicely, we do have aphids, I've pinched out where the lower pods have formed, but that's not all the plants, and sprayed.
I am gonna get these planted in Autumn this year, then they're more fully developed before aphid season so you can pinch out earlier!
And next...
I've been digging this steadily, just 20 mins every evening, any luck it'll be fully planted by this coming weekend!
Final thoughts...
Fingers crossed and next post I do towards the end of next week this plot will be FULL!
