I've had a damned nasty cold all last week.... I think it's the flu, at least that's the closest thing I've had that I can compare it to, the last time I had that was in February 2013, it was so grim I can still remember it.
This time around I haven't felt as if I was actually going to die like last time, but it's defo got that same vibe: headache, throat, mild sickness, tiredness, aching, coming in waves, just milder, but still GRIM.
I don't think it's Covid-19 - I can still taste and smell, I've not got a persistent cough and it hasn't gone anywhere near my lungs in 6 days, still, I've stayed in as much as possible and kept my distance just in case.
Coming out at Night....
It's an odd one - last Tuesday night was when I had it really bad - I was feeling ill at 21.00 so went to be early, but I didn't sleep - a headache just kept me up all night, it cut through the painkillers even, and my throat, phlegm, just grim.
At some points I'd sit up, at one point I actually got fully dressed in a coat and layed back down under a light blanket, for some reason that was the most comforting, but I still didn't sleep.
Then by around 6.00 a.m. Wednesday I started to feel better - had some breakfast, and felt relatively O.K.
I had a lazy day, made sure I ate well - smoothies, hippy tea, vegetables.... and got an early night at 20.00, and almost as soon as I lay down it came back - not quite as bad as the previous night, but same patter, headache etc, couldn't sleep, but I did doze off for a few hours in short bursts, but then by around 6.00 a.m. again I was feeling better again so I got up, now with 2 almost sleepless nights.
Again by breakfast I was feeling OK - so much so that I went to the land and dug some holes for trees for a couple of hours - I couldn't have done more than that, but I wasn't totally wiped out.
I also took my shirt off and just sat there soaking up some vitamin D - that was great, it was actually quite warm.
Then I started to feel ill AGAIN at around 22.00 - this time it wasn't so bad again, but still the same thing, back again at night, it was as if this virus knew when I wanted to sleep and was deliberately preventing it!
Anyway Friday morning, after a few hours REASONABLE sleep this time, once agains I felt OK ish so I went to the land, planted some trees (they had to go in).
NB it's just me on the land, no contact, so if it is Covid, it's all good.
FINALLY Friday night I just felt a little bit ill, nothing too bad, nothing too sleep-interfering.
I'm writing this Sunday evening, and I'm still ill, but now it's like a mild persistent cold - I've been feeling this way since Saturday morning in fact, just a mild sore throat, headache, aches, a bit of a 'I can't be arsed' feeling, and defo the urge to take it easy, but nothing SEVERE like the first couple of nights.
Hopefully this thing, whatever it is, will just now fade early next week then I'll be OK for the weekend.
I'm gonna take it easy the next few days for sure!
It's a bit annoying as I'm behind with my main blog work, and with land-plans, and I had to cancel one social event, and the odds and sods chores are mounting up.
At least I managed to tidy the house today, it freakin needed it after a week of mostly lying around feeling sorry for myself!
Still, I think I'm over the worst, hopefully!
