So I finally made it back to good old Hereford, which is just as well, I was losing money hand over fist in the South East where it's just so damned expensive, courtesy of the housing situation.
Moving day was Friday, and it didn't get off to the best of starts wih my realising I couldn't get all my stuff in the car, so I had do a two hour round trip to my dad's to drop the less essential stuff off, and some essential stuff by mistake (I just ate dinner with my only cutlery: a knife, needs must!)
Anyways, after that, I finally got on the road proper for 14.30, rather than the 10.30 start time I'd planned!
It took me SIX hours to get to Hereford, about an hour's delay on usual because of slow moving traffic and various places, and also diversions due to road closures later on: I learned some new routes at least.
Had to book a B and B as I didn't make it back in time to collect my keys Friday, oh well, at least it had a large bath!
So I lugged the stuff to house on Saturday, and found this nice little message:
One of those bottles is Rose Gin, so pretty generous.
The house was/ is in OK condition after 2.5 years of being let out, minor scuffs, some areas not too clean, but nothing to warrant money being taken off the deposit, so all good...
One problem with only bringing one card load of stuff is that the house now feels very empty, I have almost no furniture, except for a couple of folding desks, no chairs, no bed, which is currently just a sleeping mat.
So I've been doing a lot of shopping recently - futon arrives Tuesday at least.
Think I might hold off buying a bed for a while and just sleep on that, may as well get some use out of it!
I've had to park the damn car 15 minutes walk away from the house, as I can't get a new parking permit for the local area until I get proof of address, which requires a bill of some kind.
15 mins is where the permit requirements end!
Thankfully I do have a mild step count obsession, which helps.
Good news today, I have a new allotment plot already - and the guy who showed me round was nice - slightly whacky and pretty much what you'd hope for in an allotment steward.
So I can get busy with that the next few days, weeks and months, nice!
I get the feeling the rest of the month is going to be pretty busy, with admin tasks, shopping and just generally settling back into the area!
One just has to get on with it I guess!
I am defo staying here for a few years now, so done with moving all the time!
