Apparently there's a growing celebrity trend towards getting back kitchens installed their houses.
Also knowns as sculleries back kitchens are where you (or someone you employ) does the actual cooking, so as to keep your main show-kitchen (which is where you'd usually have a kitchen, presumably between the dining room/ living room and garden) clean.
The article above (and linked above) takes its lead from these celebrities suggesting useful ways us ordinary folk with less financial means can create our own 'back kitchens' to save us from all that dreadful mess in our actual kitchens.
And err, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
This is one of those 'trigger-me' articles which not only glorifies celebrity (as they are the trend-setters here) but worse it glorifies conspicuous consumption over practicality.
Kitchens are just about the most practical and functional rooms in the home. They are where we produce food, they are (traditionally) where people gather, they are the life and soul of the actual home, they are, in many people's eyes, what actually makes a house a home.
They should be used, they should be lived in, that is the whole point of them, and so, probably (and within reason) they should be damn well messy.
The idea of an article encouraging people to build small sculleries which are less practical to cook in when guests come over is literally pointless.
Spend 拢15K on your dream kitchen with all the space and appliances you need to make cooking easy and then spend another few thousand on a second kitchen so you don't have to use that main one, that's been designed, well, to be used.
That is a good example of insanity.
Everyone involved with writing and allowing that article to come into existence needs a good hard slap to make them see sense!
