What is a Cross Post?
When you 'push' someone else's (or your own) post into a community then it's a cross post.
You also have the possibility to post directly into a community - that's not a cross post. Then your post will not appear in your blog.
Requirement
Before you can [cross] post into a community, you have to subscribe the community. So go to the community and look for the subscribe button.
On steempeak.com you find a Communities menu at the top.
Is it a real post?
Yes, you do a post. Your post in fact is just a short message (which will appear on top of the cross posted post) and a reference to the original post.
The Upvotes
The upvotes your cross post receives are distributed as follows:
50% curators, 45% the author of the post you have cross posted, 2.5% the cross poster (you), 2.5% the community account.
If you directly do a 'normal' post into a community then the usual 50/50 upvote distribution will be applied.
Difficulty
If you cross post you do a post. That means that your followers who us auto vote upvote your post but you only receive 2.5% instead of 50%. So you could loose some of your followers if you do a lot of cross posts.
(I personally think that there will be a feature in the future that allows to exclude cross posts from auto upvoting but it doesn't exist so far.)
Steem Basic Income
If you don't want that SBI upvotes your cross post (maybe because the SBI upvote will go to the original author at the end) then you should include the #sbi-skip tag to your short message (which is your post).
The original post you are going to cross post will not be scanned for any tags.

Go to the bottom of the post where you see the upvotes. Next to it there are three dots who offer a menu. Select Cross post in...
