Everyone is expected to have at least one or two little things that he or she must be doing while still schooling as well. As regard to that, while I am still schooling, I do well to look for things to engage myself in while on holidays, breaks, weekends as well as vacations. My brother has a shop or outlet where he provides the service of a phone mechanic for people, so while on holidays I do go out with him in order for him to teach me more about the services he offers and also for me to be able to start up my own there or maybe in another place.
In 2022 while on a long vacation from school during the summer period, I started the apprentice work in my brother’s shop while helping him out to carry out his services for me as well as learning how to carry out the services myself. He first taught me the basics;
There were a lot of machines and also tools used in the work and my brother taught me how to operate them all.
We have the Soldering iron, which we use in soldering or in joining two metals parts. We have the Lead, we use it alongside the soldering iron in joining two metals or of a phone.
We have the Soldering Paste, which is also used alongside the soldering iron to make a particular part of the phone to get heated. The Rework station is also part of the tools we use to work as the heat produced by it helps us to be able to pull off or pull in a part of a phone, for eg, a charging port when being changed.
He then went on to teach me how to use those equipments or machines to be able to change or repair some phones. He taught me how to repair the charging port of phones, the mouth piece, the speaker, the touch as well as the power flex. I learn them all quickly so that I can be able to progress in my apprenticeship.
This is the stage where he taught me the main business, that is know the kind of quality service my customer needs and at what rate the desired quality of service costs. It is also the stage at which I as the service giver or provider is expected to know what is in the mind of my customers and what my customers want as well as what my customers would not what to get from the service that I would provide. He also taught me how to set price for each work I do offer for any customer.
As time flew, I became very familiar with the work. By 2024, I am now fully able to repair any phone as well as change all the changeable in a phone. It is not easy to carry work alongside my schooling but I did it and I would not deny the fact that I am now reaping the benefits as I am getting little income from that source every month.
Well, some qualities too were required too on my part in order for me to be able to adapt to what I am being taught, to the pattern I am being told to do something and also qualities that are to help me to be able to carry out each service solely and also deal with my customers in a nice manner even fully knowing well that some customers too may be annoying. These qualities are:
Kindness
Patience
Endurance
Love
Mild
Humility
It is never possible to for a person to know everything in a particular business or work, but I am still thriving amid many losses and my brother is lovingly always there to help me out with issues that are above my knowledge anytime and anywhere. There are a lot of other skills available to me and I am still considering gaining the knowledge of other skills especially that of Web development as I so much love that skill.
It is always necessary for us all to gain the knowledge of a particular skill in order for us to be able to gain some income from there no matter how little it might be as it too may add to our finance and help us get some things settled as well. I wish that we all will endeavor to gain the knowledge of a skill as it really matters especially before joining the College or university in order to get some income to sort out things while schooling as well.
