"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)
This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.
Somewhere along the way, I started wanting different things from life.
It's been almost two weeks since my last self-talk post. Haha. Too occupied sharing my travels and food places!
Anyway, lately I have managed to make some adjustments to my life and work, and was able to free up, or rather, reallocate more time to some of the things I want to do or embark on in my life. So, you probably realised I have done more writing and blogging on Hive lately, and that's not a coincidence.
With more time, I was able to collate some of my travel photos, and organise them into travel posts and food posts, and the idea of starting a post series about food just came naturally. I think it resulted in more engagement, which is a good thing.
At the same time, I also gave myself more time to read more posts to see what people are discussing. Not unexpected to see many people disappointed about the price of Hive, but I think and I still believe a big part of the community who are still active here will be here for the long run, and if the bull market returns, we will look back to reminisce the tough times we have been through. Hehe.
Growing up, I have been taught the importance of money (finances, budgeting, you get what I mean). Yes it's still important of course, to pay for the lifestyle that we want, to pay for our basic needs, to pay for luxury items or experiences that we want to pamper ourselves once in a while.
But somewhere along the way, I realise there's actually one thing that is more valuable than money. And that is time.
For time, once it is gone, it is gone. It made me think as much as I am putting in so much effort to earn and save money to be financially stable, have I given the same amount of thought to think how I should meaningfully utilise my time? As morbid as it sounds, at my current age, and based on the average life expectancy in my country, I have more or less finished 50% of my life (scary thought I know), and it's time to think about how I want to fruitfully spend the remaining 50% of my life. Perhaps even lesser, if there are health or mental conditions at old age.
And so it just felt right to make some adjustments to my life and work, to have more ownership of my time, and be able to intentionally plan what I should spend on. Of course, there will be trade offs, and the clearest one would be the financial aspect. Will it be worth it? My heart says it will be, while my brain is still adapting and adopting a wait and see mindset. Haha.
Reminds me of a quote I read somewhere, I don't remember the exact wordings, but it goes something like this - there is no prize or leaderboard for someone who dies with the most money.
Maybe the goal is not to have the most money, but to have enough of it while still having enough time for ourselves?
So that's all I have! A little serious for this post this time. Ending this post with a cute drink I had this week! A collaboration between a tea and matcha outlet. Look at the lambs! So cute, until I realised it cost SGD 1 (USD 0.79) more than the same drink without the art. Lol!
