Today though, I want to talk about a beer that I find to be one of the best! A Beer among beers!! And this is Sam Adams Utopia!!
Utopia is a brewed using all traditional ingredients but this is no traditional beer. At almost 50 proof, this is a here unto itself, made to compete more with scotch and cognac as an after dinner drink. Unique blends of malts and hops, and combinations of different beers aged across a variety of barrels make this one of a kind.
I can only describe the taste as liquid candy!!! Carmel and vanilla notes. A slight malt backbone with hints of molasses. Scents of raisins, dark fruit and sherry. Definite alcohol on the nose, but it's warming as it goes down. Hard to describe this as anything other than awesome!
Even the bottles are awesome, designed to look like copper brew kettles. While this will set you back around $200 for the bottle, I highly recommend picking one up once in your life. I guarantee you've never had anything like it!!! They tend to come out every other year on odd years and are very limited. So if you see one - Grab it!!!
