The following photos are my selections for this week’s letter ‘B.’
Not a baby buggy but one the horse hauls into town. I saw this buggy and horse tied up at the hitching post by the Credit Union parking lot. An Amish couple got out of the buggy, tied the horse to the post and went about town doing their shopping.
I love seeing the horse and buggy around town. It transports me back to a bygone era before our roads were travelled by fast and faster vehicles.
This time of year there are a couple bunny rabbits running around the yard. It is nice to see, for many years they have been scarce.
This one’s fur is in between turning completely brown for summer camouflage. Throughout the winter the rabbit’s fur stays white and blends in with the snow.
As the grass is turning green, the bunny rabbit finds clovers and other wild plants in the lawn that are part of his diet.
B makes me think of the hard working bees and not only for the honey they produce. These tiny workers are a vital part of our lives to pollinate the food we eat and the flowers we enjoy. Pollination is needed for plants to reproduce and this is done by bees and other insects.
A bee covered in pollen heading back to the hive.
One of the flowers in my garden I call Grandmother’s flowers as the original plant I brought here from her old homestead. These flowers bloom all summer and make a nice display of color.
As the old flowers die and turn to seed, new blooms keep appearing all summer and into the fall.
I often post photos of the birds visiting the backyard. @melinda010100 has a great community And contest with her #featheredfriends, a place where you can post bird pictures.
Of all the birds I see, the beautiful Blue Jay is a constant visitor through all seasons. I’ve put together a collage of some of them.
Last but not least is the magnificent buffalo. They are a short distance from my home in a 200 Acre park called Buffaloland.
The buffalo can often be seen out in the field near the highway. I will often go into the park to photograph them.
The coat of the calves stay an orange color until they get older and then it turns to the chocolate brown of the adults.
Seeing these powerful gentle animals always makes my day just a little brighter.
