What's up gang?
Social media has always been a dangerous place to break my self-imposed intellectual segregation. I come unintentionally in contact with all kinds of plebian masses. How do you know you've entered the realm of median genetic predisposition? You are bombarded with virtue signalling, hollier-than-thou behaviour and entitlement.
That's what's missing from our society. Authenticity. The internet made it possible to have a digital life, where you can be whoever you want, without having to pay your dues or the consequences for that matter.
People who fall for this, are either young and unexperienced or old and failures. Both of these groups pretend to be something they're not, to feed their need for social validation. It's natural to want to be liked and admired, especially when you're young.
What is not natural is to pretend to be someone else in such a large scale (social media) in order to receive that validation.
You end up creating this fake persona that lives inside you. You develop a second stream of conscious thought that as time goes by, erodes your true identity.
Eventually, you end up with a schism between reality and fantasy. Your true personality shutters in a million pieces. Death by a thousand cuts.
When you step out of your house and you realize that "Hey, that guy I pretend to be online isn't real, whoops", you get down from the high, hard.
You've become addicted to being fake. You have become dependent.
The guy posting motivational quotes on his wall, claiming he's "making moves in the shadows" or the girl having her ego stroke by 1000 creepy guys or someone claiming is a"player" or a fake millionaire or a market savant (we have a lot of those in steemit).
God forbid they believe their own bullshit. Real life will smack them in the face so fast they'll think they work in a whorehouse.
Because that's what you really have to offer in this poor world. If you are not yourself, then you are a figment of someone else's expectations.
No matter how louzy and miserable your life is, no one really gives a fuck. That's the beauty of being a nobody. But let me tell you a secret... unless you are some kind of A-list celebrity, people REALLY don't care that much.
Being a pretentious fuck is a recipe for making really bad choices. Have you heard of the 30k per year millionaires? The people who buy flashy crap to impress strangers, but they are one paycheck away from financial ruin.
Anyway, I rambling away. I will leave you with one last thing:
Do you know what charisma means? "He/She is charismatic. Raw magnetism". If you search for this word on google or youtube, you will find 1000s of videos on how to develop charisma. Here's a secret. Charisma is being authentic to yourself no matter what. But that takes some guts...
That's it. Finnito. It's a beautiful Saturday. Go out and have some fun. Have a drink, flirt and make a fool of yourself. Go out and live.
