I've been on Plurk (www.plurk.com) for almost 10 years now. Plurk is a social media platform that tried to be similar to Twitter in the sense that you can only post a limited number of characters per post. It's main feature is a horizontally scrolling timeline and fast loading.
Over the years, Plurk has tried to add new features but it has not gained as massive a following as other social media. It's not ideal for long-winded blog posts or essays and it's not as prolific as Facebook in terms of features. So why did I stay on Plurk?
Plurk hasn't have a massive following and it seemed as if that's actually what drew me to stay there. Other than the ease of use, the ability to post quick bite-sized thoughts like Twitter, without Twitter's massive info feed is a sort of refuge for digital introverts. I think there's only a handful of my original plurk friends who kept posting on the platform as most have moved to Facebook or Twitter. But for now, it is a quick, easy, secure way to post some thoughts into the social media ether for me and a few digital hipsters.
