This past few weeks I have not been in my best productive state, never knew how important being in a stable mental state was until I found myself in such situation this past weeks. For the past two years, I have been working tirelessly non stop to secure my future and I have made huge mistakes on the way, I have taken huge decisions that I thought were supposed to change my life, some of them did change my life for a moment some didn’t, some I was proud of, some I wasn’t but at the end I guess I had learnt some lessons. This year started with a high expectation, I had a huge expectation of how I wanted my year to be, I knew that the way to achieve that was to put in the work, so I decided to put the work. I worked really hard to achieve my goal, the first three months was great, I started seeing 3% of the result and it made me really happy and motivated.
This made me pretty confident in what I was doing so I deiced to put more work if I wanted to see more result, I went as far as risking some money to do lots of stuff, unfortunately, I started seeing negative results shortly after seeing the 3% result, I invested some of the 3% I earned earlier and lost some of them. I decided to be hopeful and keep the grind going. Over time, I realised that the more work I put in, the less result I get which threw me off balance. Because I thought life was all about getting more result from more work, I guess I was wrong. I had exhausted all my energy and resources working to get my desired result, but I haven’t gotten my desired result yet, but unfortunately I started burning out. When you start burning out, you start losing interest in doing what you used to like doing because you are not seeing the expected results.
Burn out happens and when it happens, it doesn’t mean you are a failure, it means that there are somethings you just can’t control and when it happens, the best way to act is to take a rest and reflect. I have realised that after every burn out moment I had experienced in the past, the moment I decided to surrender and be free from my burn out moment, I become more creative and get more ideas. So if you are reading this and you are experiencing the burn out moment, this is a reminder to take a step back, take a rest and rejuvenate your mind.
