PuloTravels #115: Batu Screet Zoo, Jatim Park 2, East Java
Me and my family members visited Batu Secret Zoo, in Jatim Park 2, Batu, Malang, East Java, Indonesia a few months ago.
Visiting Batu Secret Zoo is my son's dream, who wants to see the different types of animals that are there.
The zoo that carries the modern concept has many collections of animals, such as white lions, bears, camels, gypsy horse, bison and many more. So far, this zoo is the most complete zoo that I've ever visited.
To enter this zoo, tourists do not need to pay much, it only takes about IDR 100,000, then we can enjoy the animal collection all day long.
Once entering this area, we will be greeted by collection of various types of monkeys. Just keep stepping while looking at various animal collections.
Deers, elephants, and various reptiles are also found in the Batu Secret Zoo, even some types of wolves also could be found.
As we passed the carnivorous wildlife area, an officer was feeding a phanter. This beast looks ferocious and creepy, its fur is jet black.
We did not linger there, we just continued walking until we reached the flaminggo area. We stopped by there for a while, sipping a glass of drinks that we bought in the cafeteria, located not far from this flaminggo “nest”.
After my children boarded a rides game, we continued walking towards the area further up. We boarded a safari car there. Then we were taken around to see various collections of endangered species.
I was amazed when looking at bisons. It is the first time for me to see this American animal. In their natural habitat, they live in the valley area near the river and savanna. Looking at bisons, I remember the story of Winnetou, Head of the Apache Tribe in Karl May's book. Winnetou and Old Shutterhand often eat bison meat, some of which are smoked for the meal in their journey.
After bison, we arrived at the gypsy horse stall. I was also looking at them for the first time in my life. These animals are from England and Ireland. They are very unique since they have thick hairs, especially in their legs. Gypsy horses are among the most expensive horses in the world.
Safari finished within 20 minutes, and we arrived at the safari car station.
It was late afternoon, and we headed for the exit gate, while looking at other animals. Arter walking about 15 minutes, we arrived at giraffe area. After taking some photos there, we moved to the rhino area.
The rhinoceros were wallowing. We were not lingering there, we just walked further and arrived at a white tiger head statue, whose mouth is open.
My son, immedietely moving into the mouth of the "white tiger." Then I captured some pictures.

Batu Secret Zoo, Jatim Park II, East Java
Beberapa waktu lalu, saya bersama anggota keluarga mengunjungi Batu Secret Zoo, di Jatim Park 2, Batu Malang, Jawa Timur.
Berkunjung ke Batu Secret Zoo adalah impian anak saya, yang ingin melihat aneka jenis satwa yang berada di sana.
Kebun binatang yang mengusung konsep modern ini memiliki banyak koleksi satwa, seperti singa putih, beruang, unta, kuda gipsy hingga bison. Sejauh ini, kebun binatang ini adalah kebun binatang yang paling lengkap koleksinya yang pernah saya kunjungi.
Untuk memasuki wahana ini, turis tidak perlu membayar mahal, hanya butuh sekitar Rp 100.000 kita dapat menikmati seharian wahana ini.
Begitu memasuki kawasan ini, kita akan disambut koleksi berbagai jenis kera. Terus saja kita melangkah sambil melihat berbagai koleksi.
Rusa, gajah, dan berbagai reptil juga terdapat di Batu Secret Zoo, bahkan baberapa jenis serigala juga ada.
Saat kami melewati kawasan satwa karnivora, seorang petugas sedang memberi makan siang seekor phanter. Binatang buas ini tampak ganas dan menyeramkan, bulunya hitam legam.
Kami tidak berlama-lama di situ, kami terus melangkah hingga sampai pada kawasan flaminggo. Kami singgah sebentar di sana, sambil meneguk segelas minuman yang kami beli di kantin tak jauh dari area flaminggo ini.
Setelah kedua anak saya menaiki sebuah wahana permainan, kami melanjutkan perjalanan menuju kawasan lebih ke atas. Di sana kami menaiki mobil safari. Lalu kami dibawa keliling untuk melihat berbagai koleksi satwa langka.
Saya takjub ketika melihat bison. Ini pertama kalinya melihat hewan asal Amerika ini. Di habitat aslinya, mereka tinggal di kawasan lembah di dekat sungai dan sabana. Melihat bison, saya teringat kisah di dalam cerita Winnetou, Kepala Suku Apache dalam buku karya Karl May. Winnetou dan Old Shutterhand sering memakan daging bison, yang sebagiannya diasapkan untuk bekal perjalanan mereka.
Setelah bison, kami sampai pada kandang kuda gypsy. Hewan ini juga baru pertama saya melihatnya langsung. Hewan ini berasal dari Ingggris dan Irlandia. Mereka sangat khas, karena memiliki bulu lebat, terutama di bagian kaki. Kuda Gypsy termasuk jenis kuda paling mahal di dunia.
Safari selesai dalam tempo 20 menit, dan kami pun tiba di stasion mobil safari.
Hari menjelang sore, dan kami beranjak menuju pintu keluar, sambil melihat hewan-hewan lainnya. Hingga sampai pada kawasan jerapah. Setelah mengambil beberapa foto di sana, kami bergerak ke kawasan badak.
Badak sedang berkubang, tidak berlama-lama di situ, kami beranjak dan tiba pada sebuah patung kepala harimau putih, yang mulutnya menganga.
Anak lelaki saya, bergerak masuk ke dalam mulut “harimau putih” itu. Lalu saya abadikan dalam bidikan kamera.
