My introductory post •//• welcome a new creative member

Hello everyone, I’m Motunrayo, Rayo for a short. I’m an accountant, a designer, and an art enthusiast. I’m 22 years old. I graduated from Lagos State University this year and I’m so proud to serve my country. I’m creative, artistic, smart, open-minded and God-fearing. I grew up in a family of six and I love my family so much, they are my number one fan. I love dogs, I love animes, I love nature and I’m very supportive of eco-friendly products.

Joining the hive community has been something really exciting for me, my sister @lizizoo introduced me to hive earlier this year but I was skeptical about it, but now I have finally taken the courage to join this amazing community and I can’t wait to see what this community have in store for me. I have been looking for a way to express my creativity and this platform would allow me to express myself and, to meet, learn, and share amazing ideas with other creative people on this platform and I’m so excited about that. I will make my page educative, really interesting, and fun to read. My page will be dedicated to fashion ideas, drawings and fashion illustrations, DIY, sewing, etc in general I will give more creative content and I hope you guys love it.

I’d like to share a little about my fashion designing and tailoring journey. Aside from my mum’s background as a fashion designer, as a kid, I have always loved to draw fashion illustrations and make clothes with needles and thread, I remember making clothes for those little plastic Barbie dolls back in primary school and my sister would sell them to her friends and spend all the money alone, lol. But Ever since then my love for fashion designing and tailoring has always grown stronger. I started making real clothes at the age of 11-12 years for only myself though.

So, making clothes has always been a fun thing to do aside from drawing, drawing is my favorite thing to do, it’s just so relaxing and therapeutic. I decided to learn more about dressmaking and I learned from my mum's friend, she is a sweetheart, I love her so much and I learned a lot from her. I spent about 2 months there before I gained admission to the university. So with the knowledge I have gained from her, YouTube, practicing, and my sharp brain, of course, hehe. I was able to sew neatly and a pretty much professional. In university, I was able to wear nice clothes and slay on a student’s budget. The fun thing about tailoring is that you can get almost any clothes you want.

When I was in my third year in uni I decided to make money from it so I started a fashion brand “Made by Rayo” as a birthday gift to myself in May 2021. I was so eager to start but when I started making clothes for people, it was hella stressful and challenging cause I had only sewn for myself. However, I persevered, and I’m so proud of what I have become and I’m constantly learning to be more perfect and professional.
