Topic For The Day

Destress Music

Alright, today is my first day in a new project, and I really really need to destress. Mad mad day. So much so, I didn't even have time for my meals. My breakfast was finally finished at approximately 8.30pm today. No, it is not a typo, it is PM, not AM. That is how intense things are

Do Music Help?

So now, a study from the University of Nevada states that "Faster music can make you feel more alert and concentrate better. Upbeat music can make you feel more optimistic and positive about life. A slower tempo can quiet your mind and relax your muscles, making you feel soothed while releasing the stress of the day. Music is effective for relaxation and stress management." So yea, it is true, and it seems to be able to help.

But the question would be, what constitutes to a slower tempo? I mean, these are subjective right? My high tempo can be another person's slow tempo, and vice versa.

And if the tempo is way too slow, such as Weightless from Marconi Union, then it is erm... overly calming to the point it puts you to sleep. So now the question is, what is the right tempo that is just nice?

Music That I Find Relaxing

To be fair, these songs are equally competent and capable of putting me to sleep. Haha.

Situation

Nevertheless, even with good relaxing music, I can't put on an earpiece or headset to listen to them and be fine with it you see. So even dependency on music, can't really save the situation. I can only listen to them after work, as during the work is pretty chaotic man.

Question of the day

Share with me what is your de-stress music, and other than music what can you do/think of to de-stress.
